There's a Marlin Guide Gun in 450 Marlin for sale locally, so I'm trying to remember what @Michael458 and others have said about various large calibers. Seems like the 450 Marlin would not be anyone's favorite, especially if, like me, they already have a Cowboy Marlin in 45-70.

Are there any 450 Marlin Guide Gun fans here?

Wasn't 450 marlin basically designed to prevent "hot rodded" 45/70?

And Perhaps some design features result in a stronger overall version of the 1895 action? I often hear that the barrel shank is thinner then some would like with standard 45/70...

Ive never gotten a chance to look over both examples at the same time so im not sure about the specific differences at work.

Marlin 45000 PSI, regardless of 450 Marlin or 45/70, no difference that I would be aware of....... 450 Marlin is nothing more than a shortened 458 Winchester........ would be pretty good fun in a light bolt gun, that could handle 60000 PSI...........

450 Marlin was designed to give modern performance to the 45-70.

Reloaders have had the choice of 3 different pressure levels for the 45-70 for a few decades. The problem is that factory loads for the 45-70 are at the lowest pressure levels due to all the old rifles out there still chambered for the round.

Marlin, in an effort to give the public a modern higher pressure version on the 45-70, developed the 450 Marlin. It is basically a belted 45-70 loaded to the 45000 psi pressure level and has factory rounds readily available. You no longer had to handload to get modern performance. The belt was added to keep the round from being chambered in the older 45-70 rifles.
