Hello,
This is my review of the class I helped teach on 11/27/2021. You can read about the posting HERE.
Overview:
The class was designed to introduce the students to night shooting and the use of white light. The students could use a pistol mounted and/or handheld light of their choosing.
Support and supply
Location: The Chatham County Law Enforcement Officers Association Range is a perfect setup for this kind of training
Ammunition Provided: With access to the industry, Division Arms provided the ammunition; this was a huge burden lifted off the student.
Dinner Provided: This one-act saved the class two hours of downtime. We used the dinner as a “working meal” to go over other training points.
Training, day
We started with death by PowerPoint. Topics covered were:
NC Self Defense Law: Concealed Carry, Castle doctrine and Common law
Handgun Marksmanship: grip, stance, sight alinement, sight picture, trigger control, breathing, follow-through
Handgun Handling: drawing, loading, unloading, reloading “tactical and speed,” holstering, clearing stoppages
Range Time: NRA Advanced Pistol Course and the NC Law Enforcement Pistol DAY qualification.
Next was the break for dinner.
During that break, we conducted a debrief on a home invasion.
Great job, Scott, on the meal!
Training, night
Death by PowerPoint again. Topics covered were:
How to use Cover and Concealment
Reduced Light Training
Range Time: NRA Advanced Pistol Course and the NC Law Enforcement Pistol DAY qualification with white lights.
That’s the breakdown of the class.
I observed six students who learned a few new things and experienced the uniqueness of low light training. The pressure of shooting their ammunition was lifted; the pressure of leaving, finding a meal, and coming back was lifted. All they had to do was focus on the event and learn.
Everyone was safe and focused, even laughing at my bad Dad jokes.
Thank you, I had a great time.
I hope that @Get Off My Lawn , @RR , @Elenaidan and @Gaston can add to this review as they have time to sort out the information presented over the next few weeks.
