Hey everyone! New to the forums and glad to be here. Question - are you all finding it more and more difficult to find good hunting loads? I’m in the triangle area (Wake Forest), and just don’t seem to be able to find good hunting loads locally the way I used to.

Specifically right now, I am having very limited luck finding 12 gauge turkey tss loads. I like to support local, but it seems the shops in my area have abandoned stocking most hunting ammo in substitution for range rounds and personal defense. Understandable, but it forces me to do the majority of my shopping online for the stuff I need before hunting season(s) roll around.

Interested to see if anyone has any recommendations around the area?

It is a bit of a hike for you but Fuquay Gun may have what you are looking for. I would call ahead before making the trip. They also have large presence on Gun Broker and a new online store. If you purchase from GB, you can pick up in store and save the shipping cost.

Fuquay is pretty neat. Victory Arms in Mocksville stocks a lot of ammo.

Also, since just about everyone orders from the same 5-7 distributors, see what a local shop can do to order some. They won’t get charged shipping if it is rolled in with their regular ammo order, which saves you on shipping too. Just an idea

We currently have a good selection of TSS loads in the Federal, Hevishot and Some Fiocchi lines. Give us a call and we would be happy to take care of you. As a general rule we keep our hunting ammunition options well stocked year round. So if my suppliers carry it I likely have it and if not I would happily order it for anyone.

Thank you all for the kind words as well.

I feel like it’s harder to find hunting loads too. My take is that a shop would rather use the shelf space to sell piles of target ammo instead of selling a guy a box of hunting ammo a year. I guess that’s understandable.

Another thing is, hunting ammo is one of those extremely diverse products. We could keep 100 different SKUs of just one common caliber of hunting ammo stocked and still be missing the one particular load that someone is looking for. We totally get that too! A lot of us are hunters and we definitely know a bit about being super particular in our ammo selection, especially now that we're in a golden era of cartridge development and there's so many outstanding tools for specific jobs. So, we can always look into ordering ammo. If you give our guys a call with a part number, oftentimes, even if it's not already on the shelf, they can get it to the store in a matter of a week or so!

Also, we're in the process of putting all of our ammo on our new site, shopfuquaygun.com (the web guys are outstanding, they're adding a lot of product every day). So if you're like me, and you need to squint to see that ammo shelf we have behind the register, it's way easier now to browse and order what you need before you ever leave the house, and have it waiting for you when you walk in. If you guys have any feedback or input about what you're shooting right now, as far as calibers, projectiles, loads, etc. Always feel free to reach out to us here or through email. We're always looking to find out more about what you guys are looking for.
