Well over 100 years Old the Swedish Mauser chambered in 6.5 X 55mm is still a great choice for a Long range rifle.
After drilled & tapped for a Burris 12X scope. My shooting/Hunting buddy's Model 96 shot 1.5" at 200 yards from a bench.

Do you have one? What does it shoot like & do you reload 6.5 X 55mm rounds? A 6.5mm bullet, hmmm a novel idea LOL.

I have four Swedes, like the Finnish Mosins, they're built for business.
Two of mine have been altered, the two others are basically stock, and I couldn't bring myself to alter them (barring unforseen circumstances) to drill and tap either of the stock rifles.

I agree with stock. However when my Buddy put a scope on his I was amazed at the aurcercy that a Military rifle could produce. I've shot a lot of iron sight
rifles over 20 years of the NMC, & I must say I did very little to this Scoped Swed, I cleaned the barrel chanel, a trigger job but no bedding at all. 1.5" @ 200 yards :)
