Picked up my omega 9K today and while I was there, I bought a alpha 1/2x28 direct thread adapter. While putting it on it was gritty and hard to thread on. Once i got it on and took it back off it had lightly chewed the threads up on the adapter and a little on the 9k. Anybody know what size die and tap kit size i need to try and clean this thing up? The 5/8x24 mount it came with is not as bad.
I don’t want to screw this thing up.
Thanks

I found this same number in a couple places…

Thanks, is this a common issue? Pretty sure the last new one I held at another store was pretty gritty opening it up to see the piston.

Cant find any tap and die sets anywhere so i will just have to ship it back to silencerco. I have a feeling it was the alpha direct threat that caused the galling. The piston cap thing threads on smooth until the last turn to tighten then grinds a little. Hope it ain’t gone for a month

I plan to leave the omega 9 on a 9mm sbr so i may grease it good and put it on and forget it. Silencerco said it would take 2 week to look at it and fix it, plus shipping time. I really don’t know what to do as i am afraid i might screw the omega 9 up

If SiCo is willing to fix it, I go that route. That’s the safe bet and you won’t have that bit of doubt in the back of your mind.

Decided to try putting some grease on the threads and it went on just fine with very little grit, took it apart and back together again and seemed fine. Put the can on a ballistic advantage 9mm barrel and it only threaded about halfway on, will fit SiCo pistol barrel, and m&p 12/22 barrel just fine. So i ordered a 1/2x28 tap and die set to see if i can clean the threads up on the ballitic barrel.

It’s 1/2x28 as i put a a2 flashider on it and went right on. T
I think the od of the threads is a little to big and hopefully a die and tap kit will fix it
