O/U 12ga suggestions

Good looking shotgun. Doesn't look to be 31 years old does it.
Not at all.......and was working the break action in the store....all snug n tight....clean as a whistle inside....well taken care of.........i could not leave that store without that gun, was hoping to find an old 20ga of japSKB make...ithica, wthby, skb....O/U or sxs....but there were only 3 skb makes in the entire store, all O/Us, 2 - 12s and this 28ga....I already had a 12 at home......was looking for an aging fragile old man dove gun....

So I got spoiled today and shot a browning O/U and I enjoyed it. Never have shot a O/U before today. Is the browning worth the price tag or are there cheaper options just as good?

Here’s a general “rule of thumb” you need to know and keep in mind when it comes to Brownings:

“A Citori is a Citori is a Citori …”

Exceptions are the earliest Browing o/u’s, the “Superposed” and the later Cynergy and the latest 725’s …

models 325, 425, 525, 625 and on and on and on, THEY ARE BASICALLY ALL THE SAME INTERNALLY (and externally except for minor differences in the shapes of the sticks and forends and of course the “paint jobs” I.e., engraving, lettering, etc. change).

Within the last 20 months or so I’ve bought several used Browining o/u’s, I was looking for a 32” and 525 came up and I paid the guy’s asking $1,800 … later, a worn 26” came up for $850 and I pounced on it (it has become a favorite skeet gun). I bought a 32” Superposed here on CFF.com that I wound up shooting my highest score on one particular sporting course with …

THE POINT IS, prices for Citoris can be ALL OVER THE PLACE so, if one is on a budget, the name of the game is PATIENCE

And resourcefulness. There are hundreds if not thousands of Citoris in the backs of closets of older retired shooters so, my first step would be to plaster any clubs or ranges of which I was a member with “Want To Buy” flyers

Best of success - your hunt will be worth it!

Speaking of old O/U that don't look their age, I found this 1958 Browning Superposed several years ago. It was owned by a gentleman from SD who rarely used it to pheasant hunt. I purchased it from his son sight unseen. Hand checkering and hand engraved, screws clocked. It also came with a Browning hard case that looked almost unused. Doesn't look 65 years old. 28 inch barrels, improved and modified.
