Just got one to host a can. Really besides that I do not know what I will be using it for. It came with flip-up sights but was thinking about putting a red dot on it. I shot one maybe 3 years ago and really know nothing about how accurate they are. I have a bolt action 22 for shooting out past 100 yards.

What would you put on the MP15-22 just to plink around with?

Primary arms red dot

Yup, a PA red dot is what sits on mine. Actually got lucky and grabbed a holiday deal for a blem w AR riser for like $80 IIRC, fits perfectly.

Vortex SPARC on mine.

I bought a knock-off EOTech 512 a while back. Won't take 5.56 recoil without resetting (batteries lose contact with recoil and have to power cycle it back on) so I stuck it on 15-22. Works like a charm!

Agreed. Red dots work really well on these.
I took off a nikon and put one of those cheapie sightmarks on mine to see how I'd like a red dot. You know..one of those with the 4 reticles either red or green.
Turns out it shoots x ring stuff under 50 yards, and the new/non-regular shooters love it too. Real easy to use and they do well with it. (I use my 15-22 as a trainer for people to get familiar with the black rifle concept before I cut them loose on the bigger ones)
That was, 4 or 5 years ago and that red dot is still on there.

I had a couple gift cards from BPS so I stopped by there on the way to the range. Was looking for a Sig Romeo 3 (I think that is the one for $125) but did not have one in stock Ended up with a Bushnell TS25 red dot. I have one on my 1022 and love it. When I got towel the range I mounted it but it was to low. Lucky I had a raiser at home that worked perfectly.

Friday, I have 2 of those SightMarks and they do work very well. That is what I was looking for if BPS did not have the Sig. They did not have those either.
