Did You Go Shooting Today

After my new member orientation at Woody’s today, I took a couple minutes to shoot about 60 rounds through my 43x and 48 to see how the new sights (Ameriglo GL-352s) looked. Going to take a little getting used to since I have never had black rear sights but I like them so far

Had my orientation too. We’re you at the 4pm?

Yes sir. I was the tall, ugly guy wearing a NC State hat

ahhh, ha. Figured there might be another one of us in the bunch.

I was the guy asking if run-n-Gun allowed on the 550 yard range and trying to grease him with a $100 bill to change his mind.

Picked a 74* day to go to the range.

Shot 50 rounds of .380 in the Sig, and about 150 rounds of .45 in the 1911. Lots of one-handed shooting with these 2 guns, hoping to do a match with each soon.

Also gave the G19 150 rounds, not moving to 2-handed shooting with that just yet, still working on accuracy with 2 hands.

I used the IDPA-ish targets and did okay with all 3 guns.

Other than the dang heat in there, I had an excellent range day!! Spent about 2 hours in there.

Since it was a rainy day I hit up the covered bays. Did some shooting at the 200 yard with 22lr AR pistol and 300 yard with 223 AR pistol and Savage Axis 308.

Found out the cheap axis magazine is broken and it now falls out of the housing after every shot. will need to send that back to them because I ain't paying $40 bucks for that junk.

9mm time today at TSA in Raleigh. M&P, 92S and G26. Let a woman and her son try the G26.
Perhaps she will join the forum.

Had to try out the S&W MP15-22 with and without a can. Could not got that far to shoot only one gun so I also grabbed the 6.5 CM. About the best day I have had in a long time. Started on the 525 yard range at 200 to 525 yards. Was killing just about everything that I was aiming at except the dragon tooth. It is about 2" wide and 8" long at 500.
The steel plate has 6 rounds at 525 yards with wind blowing hard from 11:30. In the You Tube the first magazine had Federal Target rounds and the second had CCI Subsonic rounds.

Looks like fun!

Yes, did the wizard at @BatteryOaksBilly today.....and failed yet again, lol. I WILL get me a shirt, and soon, haha.

I doubt I'll live long enough to get a t-shirt....but I'll keep on trying the Wiz anyway. LoL. It's an interesting test, for sure.

Had some product training with Staccato pistols today. We put almost 2k rounds through 6 pistols at 37 PSR. That was my first time shooting them, they really do run well and shoot very flat.

I had a Battery Oaks afternoon. What could be better than that?

Shooting went well with the .45 and the p238. Got pics, but on an actual camera, so once I figure out how to get them onto the laptop, you might get a peek.

Got my next gun picked out....grrrrr!

Shot my Shadow 2 and Glock 43x today. Quite a contrast. Shadow 2 is awesomeness in every way. No complaints. Glock was error free for its first 200 rounds or so. Those Ameriglo front sights are freaking huge. Blocks out entire center at 10 yards. Guess I need to adapt to short range defensive shooting a little bit. Didn’t quite get comfortable with the 43x, but it felt good and made shots when I did my part.

Made it over to range today. some new targets (14, 8 and 6 inch gongs). These were the ones from a recent 'hot deals' thread (eBay seller). They held up great to centerfire rifle bullets and provided nice report with 22lr.

When im out of frame, im at either ~30-35 wish yards (tailgate vs corner of front). Course of fire:
-1 each @ 14 and 6 in plates from tailgate
-retreat to change cover on other side of vehicle around front wheel, double tap at 14 in
-press forward to cover @ ~20 yards, engage targets at both flanks till empty
-transition to pistol left, right middle to empty

Yeah, I remember (vaguely) being able to move about and get up and down like that.....young whippersnapper! LOL.

All good Millie. While you may feel as though your physical agility has diminished with time, I know for certainty that your soul is slicing and dicing like mothah F-in John Wick...1,2 AND 3. :)

Got to shoot my YHM Resonator for the first time today. 300 BO pistol. It was worth the 55 week wait. Shot supers and subs with no problems. Did not change point of impact (supers) without the can either. Hit some gongs at 100 yards. Good day!D1CB2D6B-12A1-4EA5-9E96-C2A9903B2052.jpeg
Also got some rounds in with a P10c on some steel plates @Jeppo recommended.

Unfortunately I brought a new glock with RMR cut slide and Holosun to sight in. Would not chamber a round. Come to find out the screw on the extractor side was too long and was practically seizing up the extractor. Just finished about 45 minutes of filing that screw down and finally got it perfect. Loads the round now.

My first two mags shot through my new Sig P320X Compact. I’m sure I’ll get better with it once as I get more rounds through it. Pretty happy with it so far.

Did not make it to the range but I did run The Wizard rill on my 1/3 scale dry firing targets. These things are great. Basically the target at 1 ft =1 yard so it is easier to dry firing with someone realistic precision in smaller rooms. They are really good for working on your draw and sight picture.

Of course I shot it clean everytime. ;) @BatteryOaksBilly Where's my T shirt. LOL

TSA in Raleigh today, put the .357 Sig barrel in my P229 .40 S&W, same magazine. Shoots nice. I like the .357 Sig.
Then some .40 S&W therapy with my HK USP, P30 and 9mm in my Sig SP2022.
Used my new Walker BT ear protection, works great.

One visitor put four rounds into the steel plate on the target system on lane #8.
Sounded like the old gas station bell circa 1960's. ;)

Friend called and ask if I want to make a quick range trip....... dumb question. Took the MP15-22 to sight in the red dot. It was cold and very windy. Managed to average a 3-4" group at 50 yards. Should be doing better but the target was rocking back and forth a couple of inches.
Glad I bought those 5,000 22 LR because you can go through some ammo with that gun.

Yes, and I didn't shoot all that well, but I had fun anyway. lol.
100 rounds of .45 and about 50 of 9mm.
You could see your breath in there, it was a little chilly!
The range did not have a p938 for me to rent.

Got off work early and got the youngest boy and hit our range. First was getting fire barrel rolling warmed up with the Marlin 22lr bolt gun then shot some more 45 LC handloads out of the Ruger BH Flattop. 255gr sure rocks steel like a hammer even with midrange loads.

Took a friend and his grandson (24 today) to the range to shoot his grandfather Glock 19, I told them I would bring a couple of guns too. Asked if the grandson has been shooting before and his limit was some indoor ranges. He shot the G19 and my PPQ which he liked the grips better on the PPQ. He has never shot an AR platform before so we started with the MP15-22 with a can. Luckily we were the only ones on the 100 yard range so we could run the gun without ear protection. After the 22 we went to a regular AR and I set the target up at 60 yards and he was nailing it so we moved to 100 yards and got the same result. Told him that this too easy so we went to the 525 yard range. Grabbed the 4-wheeler and rode to the end of the range showing him what targets I wanted him to shoot starting at 200 yards. He nailed the 200 and 300 yard targets but was having some trouble with the 400 yard ones. I think he was trying to shoot the wrong target. Told him to go back to 300 and try the smaller targets and he went 3 for 4. Ran out of ammo and headed home. His last statement in the truck was that he was glad he decided to come home for his 24th birthday.
