Dumbest thing youve heard in a gun shop

I was in a large gun store in a small town once looking at a 1911, and a local police officer that was always a complete choad was in the store. He kept butting into the conversation and criticizing the 1911. He kept saying that the only smart choice for a defensive sidearm was a 9mm, and that's why they carried them on duty, blah blah blah. Then he said, seriously and not jokingly, that .45 bullets were too slow in a gunfight. He said that if he was over by the register (about 25-30 feet away) and I started shooting at him, he could just sidestep the bullets. I kid you not.

Neo lives!

Thankfully the Presidency is not a dictatorship and Congress still needs to get involved in making laws. That won't stop the store shelves from getting emptied of guns, parts and ammo like the last time around.
If bloomturd wins I think he'll carry the house and senate too. His real reason for running for pres is enforce strict, very strict, gun control. Frankly, he's got me worried. He intends to buy the presidency, the senate and the house and he's got the bucks to do it.

Oh, so they too signed the EO to ban bumpstocks??????

Trump didnt sign an EO to ban bumpstocks. He just called up the acting head of the ATF ordered the ATf to do something they have no authority to do and even they admit it. There was no EO. First time they try to convict someone even a stupid lawyer will get that overturned. Its one of those things like 922r that will never see the inside of a courtroom because they'll never try to push their luck..

My memory is getting shorter than my... never mind. I don't remember if it was at the range or a gun shop (I'm thinking the range.) and I was showing my Smith 442 to a cop that looked about thirteen years old, to me anyway. He kept asking me where the safety was and he kept pushing the cylinder release and saying, "is this it?" While at first I thought he was kidding I realized he wasn't. As I was taking the revolver back from him I said, "In a manner of speaking it is."

You are correct. My fingers typing faster then my thoughts. Still close to the point I was trying to make. He had legal personal property banned. Imagine what a true communist in the WH will do.

Thats the good thing about the courts. The Government can say they ban all kinds of stuffbut when it comes time to back it up they'll either refuse to prosecute or get theit butts handed to them in court.

Yeah, they said the same of Obama

Yeah, they said the same of Obama

Yeah, I remember when he banned a whole bunch of Gun stuff.
Yeah, they said the same of Obama

Oh yes, the Obma gun control bans. Oh yeah, they didnt exist. If anyone was going to try to ban gun stuff by fiat it would have been him. Without Congress the President is a paper tiger. He couldnt even do it with congress in his first term.

My point. People got scared and then he did NOTHING.

And that didn't stop fear from emptying the gun shops of everything. Everything!!! We are our own worst enemy. I have what? 30,000 rounds of ammo now. Just in case. That is stupid but I still do it and I'm far from being the only one.

I heard youre 10x over the legal limit lol

"This is what you need for a home defense gun," and he hands me the Taurus Ultra Light....
But it's on me, I didn't shoot one before buying it.
I guess (most) men think women need a small(ish) light gun!

Yep. Or a tiny 380 with afterthought sights. Almost every time I had a female customer I had to show her those options before she was "allowed" to look further due to preprogramming or her thinking that's all that she would be able to shoot.

Those are rookie numbers. You need to step it up.

Here's my fun contribution
I overheard the end of a conversation between a young dreadlocked black man and a gun counter clerk at Dunhams's just outside of detroit
Customer asked if the mossberg shockwave could be carried like a pistol in the car and the clerk said yes. I cut in to say that it's over 26" and not considered a pistol, so the clerk was telling him to commit a crime. Clerk corrected himself and told the customer to just cut down the grip or barrel by 1/2" to get it under 26", THEN he could carry it as a pistol...
I told the customer that the clerk was trying to put him in prison, gave him my number, and told him to call me if he had any questions. If I couldn't find the exact law he needed to know, I'd find somebody that could get it for him.

Also, my first pistol was a compact .40 because I shouldn't be buying a weak little 9mm and I probably couldn't handle a .45 very well...

I told her she could use EBT if she was eating them.

(1) use EBT for ammo, feed it to her kids
(2) get kids lead tested and sue the city govt for poor water quality.
(3) profit.

When I rescued the NIB Bereta Neos .22 from Gander Mtn. during their closing sale, the young kid helping the older salesman said my driver license was no good because it had 'NOT VALID FOR FEDERAL IDENTIFICATION" printed on top. It was not a Real ID license.
I told the kid it is just fine, Gander is not the Federal Government, the salesman laughed at the kid, he was a retired deputy.

In a Walmart,
Customer: Yo I need a box of 9 mil for my Rugah.
Clerk hands him a box.
Customer: I said Rugah not Lugah.
Me: an unstoppable outburst of laughter
Customer: What'choo laughin at
Me: I couldn't stop laughing long enough to tell him
Clerk: It'll work. It's the same thing
Customer: I ain't got no damn Lugah, dropped the ammo on the counter and walked away.

probably one of the first times his stupidity kept the rest of the world safer.

Was in a local shop and a lady came in and looking for her first handgun. The guy behind the counter gave her a little semi auto. She could not rack it back at all. So he gave her another and another. She still had issues. She said she like the feel of it but can’t rack it back. Then he says once you get it home and practice more you will be able to rack it back. Really. Can’t rack it in the store but I guess being at home will be better. Just wanting a sale. She ended up leaving empty handed.

A friend works part time in a LGS. He’s profoundly experienced in firearms and doesn’t earn commissions. The store owner has a long term view of customer relations and wants each visitor to feel like they’ve been treated ethically. If they buy a gun, that’s great. If they don’t, he hopes they’ll return.

This being the theme, it’s a pleasure watching my friend work with new shooters. He takes time to understand their needs/use-case and then tries to recommend the best possible solution. He asks a lot of questions, puts several guns in their hands and then watches.

I’ve never seen him push a particular gun just because they have a couple too many in stock or one that’s been sitting on the shelf too long. The dumbest thing I’ve heard there is, “Jeppo, you need more guns”. :D

If'n he gets de nomination, I bet Soros will chip in some more bucks...
Bloomberg is a millionaire sixty thousand times! Even though he's the last one to enter the race, he's already spent more money than all other Democrats combined. Soros is on food stamps compared to Bloomberg.

I’ve heard a few doozies but off the top of my head these stand out.

1. The .22lr is the best self defense caliber ever made, the bullets will bounce around their innards.

2. A woman should only have a .38 revolver, anything else will get them killed.

3. Glocks are the best handgun ever made!

4. Glocks are for “professional shooters” only because they don’t have a safety.

5. Don’t buy a Glock because they can go off all by themselves, do you know how many cops have had this happen?!?!?

6. what?!?!? $3500 for an outdated design pistol (the guy was looking at a Nighthawk Custom 1911 in the display case)

This particular story took place at the range, not a gun shop. And it is a mix of stupidity of both word and action. It is also an abject lesson in the importance of observation and why you should never assume. But one afternoon, we had a guy show up at the range to zero a new rifle that he had bought and put together. He had put a Nikon (maybe a Prostaff) type scope on it. He could not get it to zero, and said it was wandering all over the place. One of the regulars was at the bench to his left and had been casually spotting they guy's shots with his own rifle's scope, and trying to give him corrections. But no matter how hard he tried, the guy's shots kept wandering all over the target.

I happened to be walking by, and hearing about his troubles, I grabbed a spotting scope and also tried to help. My gut instinct was that the guy was probably just a typical noob that thought that once dialed in, the rifle would automatically always hit where the crosshairs were, without regard to his own shooting fundamentals and technique (or lack thereof). I've seen a lot of new folks trying to zero a scope by shooting one shot, then dialing to that hole; then shooting another shot, and dialing to THAT hole - and end up just chasing bullets around all over the target. I figured this was gonna be the problem. So I had him take a shot at a spot on the target and he was about 4 MOA left. Then I told him to make a windage correction of about 4 MOA right, and his shot was the same windage as his first shot, but his impact had moved close to 4 MOA high. I figured he jerked it, so I told him to make sure he was steady and send another one. He did, and it was right beside the previous shot, about 4 MOA high. So, I told him to dial an elevation correction 4 MOA down. He made the adjustment and sent another round. The impact was at the same elevation as the last 2 shots, but about 4 MOA right. I told him to send another and it was right beside the previous shot - 4 MOA right. He was bitching about the scope being a piece of crap, etc. So I told him to dial the windage 4 MOA left and see where it went. I decided to watch him dial it, because I really didn't know what he was doing. He then reaches up and starts turning the top (elevation turret). I tell him to stop, that he is turning the elevation turret, and he says "no, this is the windage turret". I tell him "no, that is the elevation turret". He then points to the dial on it and says "no, it says left and right on it". At this point, I actually take a good look at the scope and it hits me like a ton of bricks. Dude has installed the scope 90 degrees sideways, with the elevation turret to the left, and the windage turret on the top. I had not even noticed it to this point. I told him that he had the scope mounted wrong and that the elevation turret was supposed to be up and the windage knob to the right. He then said very condescendingly to me, "No, THIS is better, because I am left-handed."

I just had to walk away. Where to even begin...

First off I don't go into LGS unless it's to pick up an ordered firearm and secondly when I do have to go I keep my nose on MY face and out of other peoples business. Let's be honest, it's not my job to educate you to jack shit, that's your job....

Was in the LGS with one of the rare guys that knows what he's talking about. A deputy sheriff walks in and starts looking/talking. Guy has a bit of an attitude but not terrible. Somehow we got to talking about suppressors.

DS says, If I ever come across one of those on a guy I'm going to demand to see the paperwork.
Me- I have a suppressor. You know I don't have to show you the paper work, right?
DS- I'm a sheriff, if I demand to see it you have to show it to me.
Me-No, I don't. It's a tax stamp. That's between me and the IRS. Tell you what, let me do you a favor. If you ever come across someone with an NFA item how about just asking to see the stamp if you want to see it. Odds are, me or anybody else are going to show it to you. But you need to understand you have no authority to demand it. It's none of your business.
DS- None of my business? I'm a cop.

At this point he looks the LGS guy who has a big grin on his face. Tells him, sorry, he's right. You can't demand to see it. DS stood there stunned for a few seconds.

OMG, I met a guy the other day who was an expert on absolutely everything, and he told me the same thing, and added that Glocks are very unreliable! lol.
He’s a keeper!
