I'm heading out around 4pm to my local to help them drain their kegs. You know this whole thing with no crowds larger than 500, then 250, then 100, now 10 and now they are closing restaurants and bars. They are boiling a frog. Nationwide lock down is next.

So my question is just who is going to enforce, and how?

There are plenty of busy bodies that will report them or you if you're not following the governments rules. See it all the time in the construction industry. Sometimes it's a neighbor other times just some asshole driving past a house under renovation with no permit box out front and they report it.

Then they will send the armed enforcement agency in blue out to fine you and clear out the bar.

The COVID-19 See Something, Say Something campaign...YOU can make a difference!

Who is going to enforce it? The business owner. They will not go after the guy wanting to sit in restaurant, they will go after the restaurant that let him. Kind of like a health code violation, they will close them down and fine them

My neighbor...
she will have her phone glued to her hand just drooling waiting to be able to call on someone.

Well there went $80,000 of my annual revenue in services. Not just employees of these places:

keg line flush company
Hvac
Refrigeration service
Plumbers
Paper product company
Landscapers
Parking lot sweep company
Window cleaners
Delivery guys
Truck driver to food source
Food warehouse workers
Register paper salesmen
Security company
Beer salesman
Wine salesman
Beer delivery guy
Wine Delivery guy
Cattle farmer
Fish boat

You get the point. The list is longer

Restaurants are still open, just not for dining in.

Dude ... get some RoundUp 365 and spray what you really think she is in her front lawn. Just wait until it’s going to be over 70° the next day. She read what “someone” thinks of her all Summer ... not that I’ve ever done this :D

Waste is considered a necessity so we’ll still be running. But if restaurants start shutting down it’s going to hurt. The school systems being down is hurting already. It’ll be interesting to see what happens on the construction side. Are all projects just going to stop?

My neighbor just came home and said most all the the businesses in Birkdale Village are closing today at 5 for two weeks. She said it's like a ghost town there already. I also got an email from my dentist that said they will be closed for 2 to 3 weeks and were cancelling all appointments. If there is an emergency to call the Doctors cell and they would make arrangements.

Dare county shut down. No non-residents in unless you own a business or work in Dare county.

They are going way to far with this. I can understand using caution but Pres. Trump had the travel ban in place quickly unlike Canada and Europe.
The Gov. of NC said he wants to help people with unemployment insurance payments. The servers will suffer because they rely on tips for their hourly wage.

Unless its below minimum wage. then the restaurant has to make their wage . Up to minimum wage

Stopped at a couple restaurants this afternoon looking for a late lunch at 3:30, they had just closed up rather than have the afternoon/evening shift report. I imaine the fast food places will run drivethroughs, but I think few restaurants will bother staffing for takeout only.

The bar and grill I was at closed their kitchen at 445. They arent planning on take out business to make it. They make their money on uncle AL COHOL. I guess they are just closed period until further notice. I went to the closest ABC store to get some more RYE. I got one bottle that I could afford to drink. This is a small store and the flunkies working there didnt even know what RYE was. I'm pretty sure the ABC's will be next. Saw it happen at the beach after hurricane. I plan on hitting the big ABC's tomorrow. Shelter in place will be next and the frog will be fully cooked.

Wish I hadn't been on the road at 5. Would have been happy to spend the last hour at a local joint helping them out.

It will be interesting to see what pressure this puts on retail beverage sales (ABC, grocery store, corner market).

Agreed. A couple restaurants around here said that they will stay open for takeouts until the food on hand runs out. Most are also selling unopened beer to get rid of that inventory.

Except for those already in prison, or people who commit non-felony crimes.

Test run for Socialism?

Went to Arby's in Fuquay for lunch at 12:30 and they had already blocked off the dining room.

There’s a nice brewery near me that also features really good hand-made pizzas... they are now selling curb pickup pizza and a crowler for $25.

I’m in!

Same at Raleigh Sheetz, one had plastic bags on the outdoor tables, not at other locations tables outdoors open.

If I’m going to eat at home I’ll just cook there. This is going to kill small businesses. All those places in downtown Greensboro and Winston won’t be able to survive is this last more than a month.

Did you ever have Coach Jacobs at ED?
He's got two restaurants, Moe's style. Pretty good.
one is on Main in Lex, and it's folks like him who I really worry about.

It's really going to hurt a lot of people

Heard on the radio Uber eats or whatever their delivery service is (Never used it), are waving the delivery fee. Tip expected of course. I'd imagine they'll get busy

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Lt. Governor Forest Questions Validity of Restaurant Ban

Raleigh, N.C. – Earlier today Governor Cooper announced, via a press release, that all North Carolina restaurants and bars must close in-restaurant seating by 5pm this evening. His mandate will devastate our economy, shutter many small businesses, and leave many people unemployed, especially in the rural areas of our state where food supply is already critical.

After the press release, and shortly before a scheduled press conference, I, along with other Council of State members, was asked to concur with the Governor’s decision with no discussion. The Governor held his press conference and made the announcement even after a majority of the Council of State voted not to concur with the Governor. Thus, he does not have the authority to issue this part of his executive order.

While I understand that all actions in a time of crisis are very difficult decisions and have many consequences, some decisions are so serious they require, by law, discussion with, and approval of, other state leaders.

My wife knows his wife so she frequents the coffee shop and we get burritos from the restaurant in Thomasville.

Whats the plan for all the lost tax revenue from closed businesses, no sales tax, no payroll deductions? How are they going to stick the tax payers on this.

Spoke a couple restaurant managers today. They cancelled my contracts and all other contracts with vendors regardless of terms. They said they will do takeout with manager staff only working until they have to start throwing the food away. Expected to do take out for one week unless it exceeds manager cost (which it will). Conference call at one franchise was done with western region locations and told they will not operate at all because over 90 percent of the business was dine in.

Except for grocery stores and big box stores Hickory had no traffic at 7:00pm. I helped my friend put his water heater in by muscle and giving him instructions. Tomorrow his wife had breast cancer surgery and will start radiation. On the way home I had the roads to myself with only convenience stores having customers. Nobody at any drive thru except Cook Out.

Wow, Gov Cooper overreaching his authority? Who’d have thought?

Stupid Roy Cooper doesn’t care. Give out money, take none in. That will not work for long.
