With all the craziness in the world today, should I plan for delayed approval of my Forms 4s? I’m early into the 8-10 month wait and hate the idea of extending the wait even longer...

You should...because it’s you. :p

The reality is the whole thing is nonsense at this point. In the last couple weeks, there have been approvals from Mar ‘19, Apr ‘19, May ‘19, Jul ‘19, Oct ‘19, Dec ‘19 and Jan ‘20 (and maybe even others). So, you’ll never know if the craziness caused a delay or not.

thanks. Guy at the shop said something similar. Basicly they just grab boxes and process. Not always FIFO.

My second Form 4 just went in (couple weeks back due to a backorder). Here’s to hoping!

I ordered 3 last year...2 in mid-July, 1 in early October. Got a stamp in last week for...

...yep, the one from October. Nary a word on the two from July! I’m assuming this is “normal” considering all the changes, craziness and the fact that it is a .gov agency???

I’m fully expecting pending forms to take a jump due to the Trump Bucks/stimulus.

Unfortunately what I want it OOS everywhere so I’ll be waiting a while anyway.

Like @BigWaylon said, things are all over the map. There’s no rhyme or reason to any of it except it’s the government and it makes sense that it makes no sense

I think most people associated with form approvals can work from home. I eformed a form1 on march 12 and was approved april 13.

I want to do an e-form 1 just to scratch the itch earlier!!! I’m very impatient!

I just filed an eform 1 Friday. I'll keep everyone updated. I mailed the prints the same day too. Charge has already hit my card.

I’m reading up on form 1 parts kits. Too many options and I’m getting all turned around!!

19 days may be a record.

Whose pocket did ya have to grease to get that done? Of course Asking for a friend.
That’s standard EForms speed. Most are in the 20-30 day range over the last few months.

Filed for 7 of them in a 3 week period. Thats just the first that came in. Didnt expect it that fast. I don't even think I have all the parts for that one yet. 9 inch 9mm for one of my AR's serial number Covid19

Probably end up with a drop in wait times in the coming months less people out to get fingerprints and passport photos, and fair amount of shops nationwide are likely closed or operating at a reduced capacity.

I've been told the exact opposite. People are all at home buying and filing. I, like many, do my own prints with stuff easily gotten off Amazon (thanks @BigWaylon). I've also been told all the custom shops and machinist are slammed. I talked with Cotton Branch Customs and Rose Action Sports today. They're slammed.

Oh. Form 1s are though the roof for sure, as are custom guys, but baseline people are generally in my experience the ones less likely to roll their own prints, and with all this lockdown stuff i' d put money on less shops offering fingerprint services.

I know I have seen 7 to 12ish suppressors a week being sold drop down to almost zero lately, but I am also willing to admit that I am perhaps discounting factors like the silencershop kiosks a bit more than I should.

I can tell you every single person in the NFA sections on AR15 gets told multiple times a week to roll their own. So there’s quite a few that do...plus non-members that run across the discussions when searching online.

Yes, there are definitely people out there that don’t know you can do it.

And sometimes they search for the answer and stumble across the Q&A on the ATF’s site that says law enforcement has to do...and fail to notice that page is in the Explosives section.

Saw SS post this today in response to a question about customer order volumes, backorders being filled and items coming back in stock...

3 of our top 6 sales days of all time were in the last 2 weeks, if that gives you an idea. And that is including Black Fridays, the 41F panic buying days, etc. Manufacturers are producing more than ever before, that I promise you. It's just invisible to customers because it's 90% backorder fulfillment. We've gotten nearly 2000 Dead Air units in the last week, which is a lot.

That 3/6 statistic is quite impressive...

I'm kinda a numbers and data guy for things like this. Question becomes what percentage of people roll their own prints for form 4s, and of those how many are buying suppressors from shops that are both open and have inventory. Sure It is easy to do so, and I do such myself, but like many things firearm related even if you tell people that they often have doubts. Probably not so much on a place like ar15.com, here or the myriad of other like places online, but in the general populace.
Now unless atf starts releasing numbers on that stuff, there is no real way to tell on such a macro level. So the question becomes academic in nature.

I will freely admit though that the increasing prevalence of silencershop for instance is a definite game changer. Especially in times like this. One i forget exists simply cause my shop doesn't deal with them, nor do nfa transfers at all. Their kiosks keeping all your info on hand makes it really easy to do the impulse purchase.

Now their recent post with the 3/6 ratio does show a nice market window into operations for sure. So I will cede the point for now. But really wish I could see real data on how all this is going. Cause while boring it is also cool

Most manufacturers for silencers/form1 are balls to the wall right now. They get the idea that this is probably a temporary thing so they arent expanding for long term. They are definitely busy with what they have though.
