If I have the misfortune of receiving a gov. check or some gov. cheese for that matter, I’m sending it back. I really don’t want anything from them.

anybody else?

To each their own but if we end up qualifying and receive one I’m keeping it. If you pay any amount of taxes which I suspect you do you better hold on to it for the upcoming tax burden we all will have. 2 TRILLON? Good god almighty. Taxes are going up people.....

That's the old way of thinking, we just print more and keep on spending it.

I'm gon spend my Coronas Rebate!!!

I’ve already said that I’m a terrible recipient for it, if I get anything. I’m just throwing it right in savings. I don’t plan on spending a penny of it. The fog expects people to go out and blow this money on silly stuff, boosting the economy.

Then 10mo later, they’ll tax the heck out of us to recoup it. Don’t worry, that tax won’t go away, it’ll still around forever, increasing the “normal” tax base by a few points.

Why your coronavirus check won't get taxed
Before the final bill language was available, there was some uncertainty about several aspects of the coronavirus relief package and how people would receive money. The version of the bill that the Senate passed calls the financial assistance "2020 recovery rebates" and structures them as a tax credit. The coronavirus checks that people will receive will technically be an advance refund of that recovery rebate credit. Because of that structure, the coronavirus check won't be considered taxable income.

I'm not sure if the final version includes the same language but according to the Senate version it will not be taxable.

ETA: Of course that doesn't mean they won't create a new tax to offset it later.

If you don't want it just sign it and I'll email you my address where you can send it so you won't have to worry about punishing the government.

If you don't want to buy stuff, donate the money to a good charity or your church.
This.

I'm sure there are going to be people around you who need financial help through all this, why not lend a hand if you're so well off you don't need it?

You may not have been hurt financially by this, but many locally owned small businesses have...... take that money and spend it all with them. Buy gift cards/certificates and burn em if you don't want anything to show from it.

Militia members, referred to as "every citizen, so enrolled and notified", "...shall within six months thereafter, provide himself..." with a musket, bayonet and belt, two spare flints, a box able to contain not less than 24 suitable cartridges, and a knapsack. Alternatively, everyone enrolled was to provide himself with a rifle, a powder horn, ¼ pound of gunpowder, 20 rifle balls, a shot-pouch, and a knapsack.[5]

I'd like to pretend that there's a high ground here and stand on it...but the elected ones just took out more debt in our name. Might as well partake and work on getting something nice for the family because you're paying for the handout either way.

I can’t wait to get mine. Cashing it and putting it in the safe till next year when I can use it to pay the probably 45% gift tax they will apply to it. Lol

IRS will use 2018 tax return to calculate the check, if you filed then 2019. Should you not be eligible at this time you can try on the 2020 tax return to claim the credit. This will not be taxed, it is an advance on the 2020 tax year refund. If there is no direct deposit info on file with IRS you get a mailed check, social security will use direct deposit info.

We should be able to buy ~50 of these.

The reality is, the amount just about equals two months of my wife’s take-home pay as a teacher’s assistant minus the tuition we don’t pay in June & July, so it’ll cover the summer months until she starts back in the fall. This is assuming she gets paid through the end of this semester and school starts back on-time in the fall.

I agree if you're so well off you don't need it then share with those who aren't lol I mean not everyone is well off enough not to need it

Since my wife and I are retired and do not have taxable income we will not get a check. So there will be nothing to send back. For those that do buy more guns or put it in a safe and enjoy.

I do not have a problem with giving people a hand up but there was so much crap in this bill and it did not need to be two trillion dollars. Both the dems an pubs piss me off. Come Nov election I am going to have a hard time deciding who the heck to vote for. They all suck.

EDIT: I do think they should of just cut taxes also. Stand by taxes will be going up after Nov.
