Where’s the first place your going to go sit down and eat a meal? As for me it will be O Charlys to have the chopped steak with mushroom gravy and fried onion straws, double bacon mashed potatoes. Or a local Place called Joyce’s and stuff myself on fried chicken, pork chops and gravy. Plus a bunch of butter beans and cabbage.

McDonald’s. All this Coronavirus has given me a real hankering for some good old fashion influenza. I’m gonna take my 4 Mc-double sandwiches to the table nearest the child play place area and eat right off the snot nosed table. Ahhhhhh.

Red Barn in Angier for breakfast or lunch ....if they survive this.

O'Charley's..? Really? That's the best you got? Didn't even know any of them were still open...

First will probably be Vinnie's for a good steak since they're closed completely during this mess. Then J.Betski's and Five Star downtown... Then some misc joints for pizza and wings and burgers and such... Locked & Loaded, Ruckus, Cloos' Coney Island... I'm sure I'm forgetting something...

Edit: oh yeah, some BBQ somewhere with @fieldgrade if he survives this...

This is the sad reality. As I make jokes about McDonald’s, the truth is many will lose their restaurants.

We were in historic downtown of Mebane other day and my wife was like “OMG I LOVE this” quaint little shops and restaurants with charming old southern feel. First thing I said was “yeah, me too, if they will still be around by tine we buy house...” sobering.

lol, not a steak eater. I have always preferred the taste of hamburger over steak. I’m pretty low maintenance and poor.

Mission BBQ in Fayetteville. I can still get take-out (I think), but I like it in there for food and people-watching purposes, and I'm friends with one of the managers.
I hope they survive all this.
Then a trip to any Golden Corral or Ruby Tuesdays to hit the excellent salad bar.

They have a restaurant in Wilmington we like too.

My old neighbor at my last house is the oldest Marine in Wake County. He lived in Mebane in the 1920’s. I took him there 15 years ago to see the house he grew up in. It really is a nice looking town.

You should know they have decreed themselves Positively Charming Mebane. I do battle with the PC Mebane Walmartians, but don't make it downtown since A&M BBQ closed a few years ago. I miss my beaner food and have not learned of a source for drive-thru fajitas. Burrito Loco in west Burlington will be one of my first stops.

As my Father spent 33 years in the Navy it was the Navy dining hall.

I remember as a early memory.

How I miss him.

Hmm. Probably Carolina Restaurant in Chesterfield, SC for a ribeye.

It depends on what day it is and if they make it through, I hope it will be Midway Grill. Thursday, Friday, or Saturday is fish day, their flounder is awesome!

I’ve dined at both fine establishments, and I, too, will be partaking of the fine burnt ends, with Memphis Belle sauce, brisket beans, greens, and cornbread when it’s over. Pretty sure they’ll survive. They don’t have a ton of employees at any location, and they had a killer take out volume (especially Fayetteville...Fort Bragg) even before the dempanic, er, I mean pandemic.
The Wilmington location is walking/biking distance to UNCW campus and dorms, so I’d guess their carryout was pretty solid, too...

I forgot to mention in my original post that Joyes restaurant also has the best flounder I have ever eaten. Did I mention this place has a 9.99 buffet:)

(OP, forgive minor detour...) We've been researching and visiting thoroughly lately since taking a northern orange Co. house very seriously....from what I gather, the 'box stores' are technically in Hillsborough, though not too far from what is the historic Mebane downtown. Unless there is a more modern Mebane downT we have yet to go to--which could definitely be case. Plenty of towns have a historic/mom-pop area and a second more typical commercial area.

My in-laws’ restaurant, 316 Oyster Bar in Fayetteville.

Two HUGE slabs of seared, almost still flopping tuna with baby carrots and O...M...G the HUSHPUPPIES!!![emoji15]

You did fail to mention that little tidbit of information. What's their address?

Nikko Sushi, or maybe Pineville Tavern

We’ll probably hit smittys in Kernersville. We
ate there the night before the governor decided he was king of NC and shut all the restaurants down.

The food is good, the staff is awesome and the clientele is mostly right wing slanting towards libertarian.

Gon get me a Rufus burger!!! Then I plan to sit down and eat me some wings at WingMans. Then a shrimp wrap at the Dairy Bar.

Dos Amigos in Lenoir, for the seafood burritos.
I've been craving them .
