Commie Rifle Pics Thread

You'll have to forgive the photo quality. I can assure you the real view is much sharper than this. But here's a crappy pic with my camera - taken from my porch in this nasty rainstorm

Picked up a MAK yesterday from a local pawn shop. Decent shape, couple small rust spots that I need to touch up. Got a lot of work ahead to give this thing its balls back! Got a stock and fsb on the way for starters. Should I go with a slant or nut when I get the barrel threaded??

I see you're in China Grove, I live in Mooresville. Who is threading your MAK? I have an SLR95 I want to get threaded and a detent drilled in. Are you using someone local?

I planned on turning a guide down at work and threading it at home. Normally I use adco for threading but these are such a pain to take apart and ship out. RB Rifleworks in concord has done some work for me in the past. He also does a good job on cerakote.

Well, I ordered an unfinished Ironwood Designs stock set for my SLR 95, Kusmi Amber button shellac from Wellermart, and some “reddish brown” transtint along with denatured alcohol.
Come early March, the project will begin I’d imagine.

Battlefield pickup from 18'. Sights are dead one and keeps on ticking. Just put 17 mags (510rds) thru it Sunday and had the handguards smoking after 4 quick mag dumps. Don't shoot that early flat side mag as there is a dent in it that stops rounds. Sling was a NIW Soviet marked.

Not quite sure when it happened, but at some point I guess I became an Arsenal fanboy...

Just snatched up this nearly new SAM7R - bolt and carrier look immaculate; allegedly it has two mags through it from the original owner who bought it at K-VAR.

$900 out the door. Not too shabby!

Likewise! My rifle will look a bit funky, as the turd original owner boogered the SAM's sling clip and handguard retainer to fit the rail (hence the better price for me), but I have a replacement milled retainer on the way and will press everything off and on in due time.

Never understood why companies make products that force you to permanently alter the gun.

Can't wait to see yours!

I got my slr-107 cheap for the same reason

Did you replace the retainer? Or have you ever tried the Dinzag or other bolt-on retainers? I looked at a few of those and would prefer steel over aluminum, but they just look kinda funky to me.

I ended up selling it before I fixed it, mistake there.
But, I tried an aluminum bolt on retainer on my Saiga and I didn’t like it. Always came loose when it heated up, though Dinzag says that won’t happen with their version.

After I installed a real retainer, I installed the new gas block and front sight on the Saiga with a big hammer without damaging anything :D

Play by play refinishing thread up. Here is the ending though

Again, this hard work pays off 100%.

Alright bro I hope this sparks a fire under my ass. Been dealing with COVID-19 stuff for weeks now at work, clocking 16+ hour days seven days a week and drinking all the whiskey in my free time. SO ... I need to find a good workshop distraction at some point.

Let's call it the KOVID-47 bug.

Dang man! You need some unplugged time for sure! I’d say, when time allows, to just go for it! I hope that you find a moment to catch a breath!!

View attachment 204088 Psa ak-e added a bcm stock, Texas weapon systems dust cover, mlock hand guard and holosun 507c optic. I have TWS rear peep sight on the way and some more pmags I can’t wait to shoot this Friday.

Congrats on scoring one! Those are supposed to be good rifles from what I have seen from AKOU4774 and read about. Please let us know your impressions as well!! I’d love to add one to my collection when they become more available
