Reopen NC

Let people exercise their right to protest.
I think the question was about what “they”, meaning those whining and moaning online, should’ve done...not what the police should’ve done.

I had to read it a couple times to make sure, but that’s what I see.

One, the courts would likely say they're shut down and might take up the case sometime next year. Two, historically the courts have given great latitude towards the subject of quarantines and other measures they see as being in the interests of safety for the public at large.

Unfortunately, with the way the US has totally botched the testing and isolating process, mass isolation is about the only tool they have to throw at it.

I see no reason that a judge could not issue a restraining order until such time as a court could rule on the constitutionality of the order(s). If the shoe was on the other foot, I guarantee that would be the outcome.

So, best I could come up with to describe my thoughts on recent events. I still think we can wash our hands and stay away from each other. But the RPD claiming that “Protests aren’t an essential activity” drove me a little over the edge. I don’t mind the gov asking me to stay home. I don’t mind them recommending I stay away from crowds. But when it becomes an order it is now called House Arrest, and I won’t stomach that.

Hear, hear!

I said last week that "Nobody ain't gonna do nutton". I am blissfully happy to report I WAS WRONG!!! Bless these 100 Patriots. I am ashamed that S.C., the first to leave the Union was not the First to Do Something. No matter what happens from here, N.C. was the first to Do Something. Those 100 were as important as the first few in Concord.

If I had known about it in time, would have been there. I am planning on showing up next Tuesday if the plans are still on for another showing. Hopefully a lot more folks will be there. Plenty of folks out of work with nothing else going on...

Well said!

The middle ground has been going on for decades and has only got us further into tyranny.

In regards to freedom and liberty, the example I use when a lib suggests I "compromise" is this-

I have a glass of pure, sweet, cool water and you want to take a drink, but I want to pi$$ in it. At what point do you consider the water to be tainted? One drop? Two drops? Slightly yellow? Half water, half pi$$? Let's compromise.

It was just a matter of time before people go bat crap crazy from being at home with their kids and spouses for too long. We the people ( or at least the people we elected) supposedly gave the gubenor the power to do this. Bev Perdue tried to make it even more power than it already is. Hopefully there will be some folks in the coming Novembers that has a plank in their platform, the repeal of these over reaching emergency powers.

Can someone please post me a link to any time in the past few hundred years where the government has voted themselves more power, and then turned around and said "Cool, we used the power we needed, now we will turn it back over and yall can vote for us to have that power again if we need it."

I taught my younglings the "crap brownies" version. Kids mostly like examples involving poop...

Nothing is more permanent than a temporary government program.

This thread shows just how much mindless thinking is going in the world and if this continues our world will go down the drain so many predict. This virus has proved it can kill any person on this earth if not contained. Plenty of mistakes have been made and more will happen in our future but the only sure way out is to work together, individual freedom be damned. If we pay attention, listen to those that know science and work together we just may survive as a people. Call myself brainwashed if you wish but now is the time to put the government of the people to test, hope and pray their methods work until the day the cure is found. Appartantly that can't be soon enough, during the meanwhile patience you bunch of damn grasshoppers.

Just vote them a little more power (that will never be set aside), it's what needs to be done or we'll all die.

Only the government can save us!

Is this for real?

Ok, I'm just going to play the Devil's advocate here and tossing this out as food for thought...

U.S. Constitution:
Amendment 1 - Freedom of Religion, speech, Press, Right to Assemble and Petition.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

NC Constitution:
Article 1, Sec. 12. Right of assembly and petition.
The people have a right to assemble together to consult for their common good, to instruct their representatives, and to apply to the General Assembly for redress of grievances; but secret political societies are dangerous to the liberties of a free people and shall not be tolerated.

To the best of my knowledge, Congress has created no law prohibiting the right of the people to assemble, so can we really claim that our 1st Amendment rights are being violated? Our U.S. Constitution's Bill Of Rights restricts the power of the Federal Government. It grants us nothing. It protects our God-given rights from being taken away from us by an over-zealous federal government.

On the other hand, our N.C. Constitution specifically acknowledges our right to assemble together. It seems to me that our self-esteemed governor has taken it upon himself to over-rule our state constitution, thereby violating his oath of office to uphold, support and defend our US and State Constitutions.

Back to our U.S. Constitution, Article 6, paragraph 2:
This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding.

Following the above, I found the Federal:

CIVIL RIGHTS ACT

42 U.S.C. Chapter 21

SUBCHAPTER I--GENERALLY
Sec. 1983 Civil action for deprivation of rights

Every person who, under color of any statute, ordinance, regulation, custom, or usage, of any State or Territory or the District of Columbia, subjects, or causes to be subjected, any citizen of the United States or other person within the jurisdiction thereof to the deprivation of any rights, privileges, or immunities secured by the Constitution and laws, shall be liable to the party injured in an action at law, suit in equity, or other proper proceeding for redress. For the purposes of this section, any Act of Congress applicable exclusively to the District of Columbia shall be considered to be a statute of the District of Columbia.

(R.S. Sec. 1979; Pub. L. 96-170, Sec. 1, Dec. 29, 1979, 93 Stat. 1284.)

It would appear to me that if the US Constitution is the supreme law of the land, and the Civil Rights Act above states that if any state, territory, etc. causes any citizen of the United States to be deprived of any rights, that state, territory, etc. causing the deprivation, SHALL BE LIABLE to the injured party.

I realize that it would take lawsuits, lawyers, and years to file suits against the governor, and with all the red tape and possibilities of liberal judges, what do you think the probability of reaching a rightful decision in a timely fashion would be? Not to mention the costs. I believe this is precisely why they know they can get away with stuff like this.

Like I said, I'm just playing the Devil's advocate here. In my opinion, North Carolina has a beef with our governor. It is tyranny when any form of government starts dictating how, when and where a legal, private business may operate. I think private businesses should be allowed to operate as they see fit, and let the PEOPLE decide for themselves whether or not they wish to go out.

Am I all wet on this?

And turn in all your guns for the safety of “the children” while we’re at it. Go to the FEMA camp, it’s for your own good. If history has showed us anything it’s that government always has the people’s best interest at heart.

You forgot the sarcasm emoji when you posted this. If this is serious, I am popping my popcorn now

The more "mindless thinking" I do, leads me to think the day the cure is found will be after the November election. Right after the call in, drive through, mail in ballots are "counted".

So, I guess we'll wait for the white horse to come riding in no matter what we lose. Income, savings, businesses, and etc.

And the damn the individual freedom?
Buy a plane ticket to Russia or a number of any other countries if you're serious ahout the damning of individual freedoms. Obviously you have no problems with that happening here in America from your comment.

Look bro...you and I have been at odds a lot about the degree to which we should be behaving during all this. But we can both completely agree that this "indivual freedoms be damned" attitude is both un-American, and well, frankly weak.
I figured it was his way of chumming the waters. For which he will definitely be needing a bigger boat

To be fair...I think his boat was built without a bottom, therefore never actually managed to set sail. I've seen some statist loving stuff slip through every once in a while, but its usually veiled by at least an attempt to camouflage it...but wow...this should go in some archive or something.

Acquire any little red book and you'll find where these thoughts come from.
Yeah whatever.
The confusing part is how someone like this stumbles across a freedom site like this one, and joins up. o_O
I've seen personalities like this before. Don't ever give them decision making responsibilities, because they can't make one..right or wrong. They're totally conflicted within themselves and the result is no results combined with a sense of righteous indignation.

I support your right to beat your swords into ploughshares. Individual freedom be damned?!?!? Take your 30 pieces of silver and submit to King Cooper.

DO NOT expect us to.

“Individual freedom be damned”

Interesting take, especially considering the platform.

I dunno, once they get on the board of an HOA they seem to have no troubles making up nonsense.
