First one this year.
Is it eatable?
Something already took a bite...

From the picture it looks like it has gills which, in most cases, from what I have learned and not being an expert on edible mushrooms it would not be for human consuption. I think.

While ago a couple was harvesting wild mushrooms using a guide book. The book was wrong and both needed liver transplants.

Neither my wife nor I recognize that mushroom.

We are not mushroom experts by any means. We do harvest a lot of wild mushrooms for consumption. We certainly tend to focus on the ones we can eat, and not really the ones we can't, unless it is almost a doppelganger of an edible.

But, that one is not on our list of good ones.

Dunno but you have to be careful. I had a middleschool friend eat the wrong ones, tripped out badly, thought he was Jimmy Hendrix and spent time at Cherry Hospital near Goldsboro. He's better now and has a family.

My buddy's Chihuahua would dig up the white ones that come up under oak trees, trip out (we guess), go on a humping session with a stuffed animal toy (she would hump that thing across the room) and then just stare out the window for the next hour or so. Kind of had us curious lol. I've seen squirrels eat these white ones too.

Edit to my OP... 7 hours later...... Here she is with the goods wanting to go inside. We would let her out she would dig them up from under the grass and come back. She lived until 15 yrs old, I built her a boat for floating in the pool and she wore that stuffed animal slam out. If there is reincarnation I'd be happy to come back as her.

That sounds like one of those Kermit the frog memes.

lol jokingly or serious? With all this rain they should be up as soon as the Sun comes out. She was particular and had to be the ones from under oak trees (live oaks mainly). Not every mushroom was her snack.
