Self-Defense Question

E2E50FE6-E2AA-4FC6-9962-C4F72D0E30B0.jpeg

This question honestly worries me. I drive all over the state every weekday. Monday I have deliveries in Winston-Salem, Durham, Chapel Hill, Southern Pines and Charlotte For a pickup. So what if? I’m not gonna fight people to protect a load of Sheetrock or ceiling tile. But I have to protect myself, I am Responsible for the company truck but I’m not gonna get hurt over it. I do carry bear spray and truck gun. Obviously I would deploy the bear spray first hopefully as a major deterrent. But a lot of these crowds when they are attacking they are looking extremely frenzied. I think everybody has seen videos of mace not working on people.

The what if’s are worrying. At what point Being in a car, surrounded by an mob is lethal self-defense legal?

I told my daughter the same thing. I told her if she had to, to hit the gas and once out of harms way, call the police and tell them you were in fear for your life.

They showed a tanker truck today that tried to go through protesters on the highway and they jumped all over his truck, got him to stop and then beat him. And then he got arrested! Found the article.

I think they should have learned at an early age that you don't play in the road or you might get run over. If I was on his jury, I would not convict him.

Good God, suddenly everybody is a Billy Badass, "I got this rifle and a gazillion magazines and enough food and water to stay in my truck for 2 months"

Has it occurred to anyone to AVOID the areas where you THINK there may be trouble?? What's the saying "If I THINK there's going to be trouble where I'm going, how about I just don't go there"?? Or not, your choice.....

Discussed this a bit with my wife yesterday, and thankfully neither of us have any need to drive through the "hot spots" that we have seen in the Triad. But, things change, and locations change. My determination is that I will first seek to avoid the area, if possible by crossing lanes and going the other way, hitting an off ramp, whatever. But if we get surrounded and are one of those lead cars and people start beating on the windows, I will defend my family. I wont say that includes blasting out the windows, or just hitting the gas, but it could include both.

I will not base the safety of my family on the assumption that those who would make the decision to break the law, impede traffic, vandalize my property will control themselves enough to stop at property.

Sure, we can keep surrendering our country until they show up at our house.

I don't think it's all about being a badass. It's about being prepared. There are guys like SnowRooster, and me, who have to work/drive through hot spots such as Charlotte. I don't get riot days off.

I have to drive 1+ hours to work, and it’s through Durham. Me a “badass”? I’d say no, I’d just like to get home in one piece.
When did a spare mag per weapon become a gazillion? I don’t want face a hoard with only 9 rounds.
I’d LOVE to stay in my home our in the peaceful country like you.

So I guess there's only ONE way to get to where you MUST work?? No other possible routes, I suppose your work is life and death on a daily/hourly basis. Man I feel for ya...
You purposely go into an area that you KNOW isn't safe, I lose any and all compassion.

I dont have a choice....Come ride with me through and around Charlotte this week. See firsthand why a bunch of us are toting extra heat to ensure protection of our property and lives....

You really should probably stay at home where you feel safe and practice the Wizard...

What about people who are in the medical/LEO or other such fields, or otherwise just plain take pride in the services they provide, and are willing to accept an increased risk in order to keep providing them to people who need them?

I will certainly avoid those areas if possible. But in NC the home, your place of work and your car are special cases. If you are in fear for your life, great bodily harm or sexual assault and you did not instigate a conflict, then you likely have the right to use deadly force. Breaking into your car is the same as breaking into your house from that stand point. If you purposely drive your car towards a crowd you have probably given up the ability to claim self defense. You are the aggressor. Likely why the semi driver we all saw a few days ago in MN got arrested. Remember you will likely have to go before a Prosecutor and a jury you had better be sure you are on the right side of the law before you start popping off rounds with a shorty AR15.

Been carrying a AR pistol everywhere I go since this crap happened in Charlotte three years ago. Kelly and I work right near uptown Charlotte, (work at same shop) and yes, there are a few different ways to come to work, and they all still funnel right in to bad spots of the area. I've posted this before, but a guy hit Kelly in the back of her car, then ran, and then in the same spot, at the same time, a different guy tried to get in her car, then threw a rock through her window, at 7:45 am. So yeah, we have a little experience with azzholes trying to get at us. If we want to carry a freaking bazooka, then that's our decision. Last I checked, I'm not looking for any compassion from anyone, or approval of what I/we do or carry. Now, carry on with regularly scheduled programming......

Remember this....

Is a jury of "your peers" REALLY your peers..??

Non issue, it’s another plastic handle. Other than the LAW folder, SB brace & CMC trigger, it’s a budget build that won’t hurt too bad if lost/damaged. If come across a BCM grip for $10 I’ll replace it.
The expensive suppressed 300BLK SBR is at home with the wife.

I’m not familiar with your posts previously revealing compassion.
Stay safe.

Everybody's got an excuse..... Whatever.... Has it occurred to anyone that leaving home with anything but your lawfully carried handgun could be considered as "looking for trouble"?? Of course it hasn't, ya'll all badass up in here.....

Besides, I'm in the dog house with LJ so I have other fish to fry. She wanted to go to some furniture store off Tryon and Harris yesterday and I told her NO because of the area of town and it's potential issues. She copped an attitude, so did I and we had a quiet evening at home. She cooked what she wanted for dinner as did I. She had yogurt and fruit and I had a nice KC strip, a baked potato and a salad. I was happy, I don't know about her....

Sometimes one just does not see what's a mile down the street. No one I know of would go into trouble on purpose. Well, almost no one...

NC is an OC state so leaving home with a rifle is perfectly legal also.

NOBODY on this thread has made any excuses... All seem to share a common concern for enhanced saftey during these violent times...

You seem to be the biggest excuse maker on here. Your rebuttals always seem to have an excuse included with them.

Stay home, stay safe, and practice the Wizard. You will be fine. The rest of us are doing what we need to do.
