They are protesting in Atlanta and the Chief has quit.
Wendy's called the cops about a car in the drive thru. Cops arrive and a black man is passed out drunk in the car. They wake him up and a struggle ensues. The guy gets a taser from the cop and runs. He then turns and aims it at the cops. The cop shoots him. The BLM folks are saying he was shot for sleeping in his car.

Yup, read about this a little while ago. It’s a cluster already.

The Mayor said the officer didn’t HAVE to defend himself. She was saying there is what you CAN do and what you SHOULD do. While acknowledging that he didn’t break any laws or policy, she is pushing for the officer to be fired.

I’m betting this is a big part of why the chief resigned.

probably could have done without shooting him. in that situation a taser is a 1-time use item that is likely to not even touch him/her. however, if it DID get him/her, he/she had better hope there is backup real close to save him/her.

How sweet - another police shooting and another Police Chief immediately resigns for political appearances. Of course, the former Chief will continue to be a city employee drawing an exorbitant salary for advising the city about what they apparently handled so poorly as the Police Chief.

The phrase "fall on your sword" takes on an entirely different meaning when it is a rubber sword.

From what I've seen on the video the man should never have been shot!

He was in full retreat after he actually kicked 2 cops asses and escaped after being awoken from a passed out state.

The cop F'd up!

Damned if you do, Damned if you dont

Im slightly torn on this, as the perp had a less-than-lethan/non-lethal weapon. That said, he still had a weapon and should he have gotten the officer with it, no telling what bad things could have happened while he (cop) was incapacitated.

But to spin this as a 'he was killed for sleeping in his car' is ridiculously dumb

They have busted out the windows of the Wendy's tonight and started a fire inside.

Protesters angry over the fatal police shooting of a black man at a fast-food restaurant in Atlanta marched onto the highway Saturday, shutting down part of the Interstate 75/85 downtown connector, a major thoroughfare through the city. A crowd also set fire to automobiles near the Wendy's...

Somebody needs to put a stop to this bullsh*t.

With all the remnants of Hurricane Floyd in Minneapolis ... Hurricane Brooks will cause Atlanta to burn its brightest since Sherman’s March to the Sea.

Probably so...

Glad I ain't working for Atlanta FD.

I think a lot of departments have moved taser to just below lethal force. So if you have that fine a line your not reaching for a taser. The taser should be moved down on the spectrum so officers use them more IMO.

Well Wendy’s is now burning ... this weekend is not going to be good.

I’ve not seen the video but if he fought two cops then shooting his ass is just fine.

White Cops should really stop answering any calls involving black perps. They can’t win..
All cops should stop answering calls and be as low key and unproductive as possible, for their own good.

The CLT shooting was a black officer and the BLM crowd claimed “he’s not black, he’s blue! They brainwashed him in the academy”. There’s literally no winning.

Y’all...I’m just putting this out there.

If I am ever shot by the cops in some semi-sketchy kinda way. Don’t burn down a Wendy’s...burn down Popeyes for messing with Chick-fil-a.

This happened in California and nobody burned the place down. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shooting_of_Willie_McCoy
I remember that one. people were a little grumpy.

One thing to take away from all this is that somebody somewhere is deciding which ones of these we're supposed to get mad about. and most of the time the ones they pick are complicated and will shake out in the end to show that the person who was shot was doing something that got them justifiably killed. Notice that the Breonna Taylor death was a perfect example of a killing we SHOULD have been outraged about from the get-go, but it was largely ignored an only added into the george floyd issue. and george floyd has a history of being a bad person and apparently had drugs on/in him at the time of his death.

Akai Gurley - ignored and the cop was convicted
Philando Castille - big news, but the death was ruled justifiable
Trayvon Martin - easily justifiable from the start, big news
Walter Scott - obviously a death sentence for contempt of cop, went mostly unnoticed.

A far-fetched conspiracy theory nut friend of mine (who also happens to be a black male) has long been saying that somebody is pulling the strings to keep the races divided. But now that it looks like the media are complicit in only whipping black people up into a frenzy over cases that will make white people think poorly about them, I may have to suck it up and tell him he's been right all along.
