"Protesters in Albuquerque wrapped a chain around the neck of a bronze statue and began tugging and chanting, “Tear it down,” shortly before sunset on Monday. Their efforts to pull down a monument of Spanish conquistador Juan de Oñate suddenly stopped as four shots rang out."

https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2020/06/16/albuquerque-militia-shooting-protest/

Saw a cell phone video on Youtube, where it looks like it may be justified.

This is how street battles start. Once that happens we are done.

Baca was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and firearm enhancement, according to a criminal complaint.

"firearm enhancement"? they finally cracking down on those punisher slide plates and soldering iron stipple jobs???

There a clip prior to this where the shooter pushes a woman over after she intentionally stands in front of him.
Do you have a link for that? I haven’t seen that one.

While I don't agree with what this guy did the mayor and governor keep of New Mexico called the people he was after "protesters". I think the correct wording would be vandals. I don't understand how the powers that be get to keep picking and choosing the laws they enforce. It's no wonder people like this guy are showing up.

All these politicians are playing "politically correct" (begging for votes) while hiding behind walls and guards in their cushy mansions...

They call them "protestors" now. Let's see what they call them when they are climbing the walls to set their mansions on fire...

I'm no historian, but I have read Les Miserables and seen the play. If American elites keep moving in this direction and hoarding all the money, it won't be long before the peasants revolt, burn their houses down, and chop off their heads...

Let's see what the politicans say then...

I didnt open the link, no thanks to giving them clicks
But I notice the link title 'Albuquerque militia' (negative connotation) with ' protestors' (protestors make it seem like they're just standing around chanting.

He was on the retreat and a dude with a skateboard was beating on him, as well as at least one other (hard to see in video) - he defended himself.

He wasn't the aggressor, she was the one bumping and checking him. General rule of conflict, you can not use force to block another's path.
Yeah, but being armed, the responsible thing to do would've been to walk away.

I don't get to drive people off the road just because they cut me off.

It takes some kind of special "thinking" to load up and go to a place where this stuff is happening. Should we be able to...well yeah...or as some say Yeah But. If you go down there armed up, as I am every where, and things go tits up, do you share some responsibility for going down there? I know if I was formulating a plan to go to where there were that many people tearing up public property, I would Kinda expect things to go down hill. Some prosecutors would read that as "hunting". You Must have a plan. I go the same way every day to work. I have a plan in place All along the way. Now, it might have to be altered on the run, But getting in the place this man was in ain't workable for this ole man.

It's sorta the blame the rape victim thing going on. You do something you absolutely can do, and then get shocked when something bad happens because of reality.

This guy went looking for trouble, found it, is probably in the right but is going to lose everything fighting the .gov and the social justice warriors to prove he's right. Guilty until proven innocent at your own expense is the reality of things now.

Guy's not an idiot. This looks bad on video for the mob yelling "Kill him" He declined to make a statement to police afterward. Also was running as a city Councilman also so probably has an attorney on speed dial.

Those assholes started running asap when the pops went off. Funny how that works

From what I could see there were a bunch of idiots trying to push over an old statue of some bum Spaniard and a few other idiots trying to stop them. I'm figuring most folks with some common sense would have de-assed the place or never showed up there to begin with. At this time I'm in the defensive mode. I don't go out unless I have to and trouble will have to come to me.

Im sticking with @BatteryOaksBilly on this one. Yeah, he could be there... But why?

He's smart enough to know to remain silent and wait for his lawyer, but not wise enough to stay away from trouble.

He carried a gun into a live protest, pepper spray in hand, got into the middle of the protest and got into a fight with a woman. I bet he felt real tough and strong when he threw that 90lb girl on her face...

He acted like a fool and got chased by a mob. Then, he shot, missed, and hit a stranger...

That guy's a fool...

Yep, good call on the language used. He also said something to the effect he would enforce all the laws and arrest the vigilantes. So he’s enforcing laws on one group but not the others. This is how wars start. The longer this goes on the more likely we’ll see some sort of well planned response to these commie lunatics.

Agreed, but at what point do you take the fight to the enemy? If you wait until they are at the Battery Oaks Gates (figuratively) then it’s you against overwhelming numbers. The bazillion dollar question becomes when do good men gather up and fight back? When enough cities fall? When some election is rigged? I don’t have an answer just throwing it out as food for thought. If this keeps escalating I’d rather not be in a fight at my front door with my children behind me. I’d prefer to take it to them.

"YOU'RE GONNA DIE!!"

"We're gonna fucking kill you!"

This is where AntiFa douchecanoes, who have become accustomed to swarming individuals to exact violence with little to no retaliation learned a lesson in F*$k Around and Find Out.

Multiple attackers with the verbal threat they intended to kill the individual.

I don't feel sorry for the kid that got shot.

Not even a little bit.

I don't feel bad for his friends, for his fellow socialistas, not his Mother, Father, or siblings.

Even if the shooter turns out to be a dirtbag.

Listen folks - people seem really intent on turning loose a djinni that can't simply be commanded back into the bottle- and it's not Call of Duty from the comfort of your parents' couch, or pushing over old people who can barely walk, or the knockout game on unsuspecting passersby.

"We Will Tread" says the Communards.

"Only for just a minute" says people that grow increasingly tired of turning the other cheek.

Sure you do, You just have to be willing to pay the consequences after it’s done.

"I feared for my life, I was assaulted several times, hit with a skateboard, I tried to escape to safety but was attacked again by a group who said they were going to kill me." I had to defend myself. Don't bring a skateboard and a knife to a gunfight.

I agree with everything you said above... But, I read that he started shooting and missed the aggressors. He, allegedly, shot a bystander across the street while the assaulters ran away...

I'm sorry.... I presume I'm missing this, that or the other....

But why shouldn't a person be able to carry whatever they wish for self defense into any situation?

Our first amendment right is to say what we want, to who we want, where we want.

I don't see why that dude wasn't able to say whatever he wanted to. It's the first amendment.

As he was physically attacked he defended himself.

I do not know the whole story as I wasn't there.

But if I show up to engage in debate socially, then I have the first amendment on my side.

If the other party decides to scream "I will kill you" then attempt to bludgeon me to death. I am well within my rights to use the tools at hand to defend myself.....

It is our right to carry deadly force, sprinkles, pamphlets, porn, popcorn, healing crystals or whatever on our person in any situation.

It is our right to speak freely. It's also our right to defend ourselves when the other sides debator, goes deadly....

The whole issue seems to be "you disagree, we will kill you"....

There's another angle clearly showing the guy with the skateboard getting hit and going down. Not saying all four shots hit him and nobody else though.
