Anybody here used one of the Leapers/UTG brand of QD adapter plates?

If so, what’s the good/bad?

Anybody with actual experience with this particular item? I’m readily aware of UTG’s reputation in general.

not yet. FWIW I had one in my parts bin (prob picked it up at some sale) and threw it on a lower last week for a new 9mm build as I'm trying to keep costs down for this build. I did remember noting that I liked how it fit into the lower's bottom hole, no need for the little key pin to keep it tube etc from rotating. I just went and tried a Magpul and Strike Industries QD in it and both fit the same, no slop. I jerked it hard from the sides and it didn't pop out. Seemed to have the same feel as the ones in the my BPM ars. The design of the rim the ball bearings expand into only allows for a bit of twist. It will not twist 360* more like 45* one way 45* the other. My Magpul plate spins 360. my short lived $0.02

Glad to hear it.

I did order one today, and also one of the Magpul ASAPs. Be nice to be able to put the 4x less expensive UTG version on most of the ARs.

Quick question related to this comment...

My Magpul ASAP showed up today. I haven’t installed it, but did try out a sling I’ve had for several years but have never used. The QD does click in and spins 360°. However, I’m assuming it’s gonna hit the buffer tube. So maybe the 45° each way isn’t much different?

I mean there’s no way for it to rotate to this position, right?

Give me 5. I'll take some pictures of the two.

Yes of the two, the Magpul will spin 360 degrees, but yes the buffer tube is in the way with that strap type of QD.

I mean there’s no way for it to rotate to this position, right? No not with that wide strap type of QD.

The UTG mount has much less turning ability due to stops within the recessed area that prevents the QD from spinning like the Magpul.

Here is the magpul sling QD on the UTG and the magpul sling QD on the magpul mount.

@tod0987

good info...thanks...

Based on the way you worded it, I’ll assume there are other styles of QD mounts out there. I’ll have to check that out.

yes I have the strike industries QD mounts too. The Magpul is easiest to take on and off. The Strike Industries you have to squeeze from the sizes and not that easy to do. Not difficult, just a bit annoying.

Strike Industries on the left and Magpul on the right.

I've been really digging the products that Strike Industries has been putting out. I really like their short buffer tube/spring combo, enhanced LPK (I put my own trigger group in), and their pistol braces. I just stocked up on a bunch of braces just in case and at $36 a piece not bad. They don't sting much even with my 45acp ar pistol. Also picked up some LPKs to keep around. Most times it is either from joebobs or opticsplanet

I think the Strike QD slings are made more for paracord or the magpul paraclip slings as they would not slide to either side due to the V shape. I'll have to do some digging to find all the magpul stuff and try them out. I cleaned out Overton's years back of their magpul stuff for 75% off when they were sold off to Gander Mountain.
