Wait, what!?
That says it (1943) shouldn’t have been circulated. And
(1943)could be $100,000 in value?
I’m pretty sure it’s 100% copper, but I’ll put a magnet to it when I get home.
Gonna have to do some investigation now.
You buying lunch dude?
i have one from 1954
Retire? No but you might use it to pay for a nice dinner out if it is a 1869 and were in a little better condition.Pick this up today in change from the Harris Teeter, can I retire? 1859 indian head cent in gunbroker grade vg+ (Maybe 1869, that doesn’t look like the open 5)

Sweet, too bad mine looks like it was used as a pellet gun target for the past 100 years.Retire? No but you might use it to pay for a nice dinner out if it is a 1869 and were in a little better condition.

ETA: It does look like a '69. '59 didn't have the shield on the reverse.
Also it would be twice as thick as a normal cent. That's how they were made for a few years.Retire? No but you might use it to pay for a nice dinner out if it is a 1869 and were in a little better condition.

Now I think we do need an officIal coin value thread. I've dabbled for years in collecting and have an interest but never very committed. I spent time with my grandfather as a child combing his collection and asking questions. Reminds me of him every time I dabble a bit.

Best thing to do is go to one of the coin value sites (PCGS or CoinTrackers), enter the specifics and see what value they come up with. From there you're generally in the ballpark but the buyer really sets the price with what they're willing to pay. You end up having to shop buyers sometimes to get the most out of it. Most people *think* their coins are more valuable than they really are...How is the best way to sell old coins? I know someone but not sure I would get a good price from them. I have a 1879 quarter and 1865 nickel that I would like to sell. Not even sure this is the right time to do this-with all the craziness going on.
