Hey shooters

I am looking for some opinions on this scope. If you have one or have used in the past.

I have used one of my buddies at the range. I was impressed. No real world experience with it.

I have only tried one, and only briefly. I was impressed with the quality. I really like the concept.
I would rather have this than, say, an Acog any day. Seems like a great military optic.

But it's very expensive and for my use it doesn't do anything my Steiner can't do at 1/4 the cost. Just my opinion.

My personal experience with them was very good.
However, on this board, I have seen a video someone posted. It really trashed the Elcan Spektr.
Basically it said that there are 4 different zeros for 1 power, 1 power illuminated, 4 power, 4 power illuminated, or something like that.

I have heard of zero shifts on old models. Also the dot at 1x is 6moa, 1.5moa at 4x. I think that causes some of the issue.

I will do a zero shift check when I get it.

A buddy used one in the Army and gave it high marks.

Don’t know if it’s true, but I was told that there are issues with repairs since they need to go to Canada, and we can’t ship them to Canada. Most likely internet gossip, but it kept me out of one years ago.

Is the Steiner a prism? or LVPO?

It's a good scope, glass is clear....but it's heavy, and is hard to set up for a co-witness/night vision mount. The big plus is that it's unique in the field, and being able to flip from 1-4 is fairly uncommon. I had two models, one on the M4, and one for the .308 FN. I only saw one break in Afghanistan, and that was from jumping into a ditch and taking a rock that was sticking out right to the front glass. Keeps it's zero, good on batteries. I prefer the ACOG because it's lighter, and fast to acquire. I have another optic that not many people use, and I REALLY love it, something to consider: http://www.valdada.com/1-4x32-qr-ts-35mm-pitbull-mil-compact-scope-w-cqb-illuminated-reticle/ (now this is the updated model, if you can find one used, the previous model had pic rails on the sides, and will last FOREVER. I have had the previous model since 2005, and it has taken a beating...still holds it's zero, turrets work great, and no problem with the illumination.
