Next time start at 25 or 50 then move to 100. Saves time and money. How does the BDC lineup with 6.8 vs intended 5.56?Yes. I know most of you say a bad day at the range is better than a good day most anywhere else, and generally I’d agree. But today was one of those days I’d have been better off staying at home a lighting $100 bill on fire.
I was hoping to sight in a scope on my 6.8 SBR. Have always just run a red dot on it, but traded some ammo (maybe late last year?) for a 1-6X Primary Arms scope. Pulled the BCG out and boresighted it on a neighbor’s tree earlier this week.
Got to PHA today and shot a little rimfire, then headed to the 200yd range. It’s an ACSS scope so I’m supposed to sight it in at 100yds, then use the reticle markings for other distances.
After it going from bad to worse on the first mag, I figured out I’d not gotten the scope mount tight enough on the upper. Tighten that up, moved to the next mag and kept going. I’d brought some mags I’d loaded months ago and didn’t look too close...just noticed they were all FMJ (and not any of my Hornady V-Max). Well, turns out the 2nd mag was some other brand (Remington instead of S&B), and so I’d chased it in one direction only to swap back to a mag of S&B and have to chase it back.
I made some noise, punched some holes, but ended up just packing everything and leaving...no closer to being sighted in than when I started. At that point I was frustrated enough it wasn’t going to do any good to send more coin downrange.
Never even got to attempt shots at 200.
Next time I need to just find somebody to play spotter, and double-check what I’m doing.

I had that optic on a mini-recce build for about a year. I don’t think you can do better for the money. That being said, if you acquired it in a trade there’s no telling what it went through before you got it. Wonder if it’s all gtg inside if it gave you that much trouble? The scope says:

So it’s supposed to work for multiple calibers. The manual for the current version actually has a 6.8 load listed, and that’s also what they told me in email when I asked.

I’ll try it again with a spotter, then see about sending it in.I had that optic on a mini-recce build for about a year. I don’t think you can do better for the money. May be worth sending it in for a clean bill of health. I’m pretty sure their warranty is similar to Vortex.
How does the 6.8 suppress? I was considering building a 12.5” upper. I know that round is supposed to be a laser out to 1k yds and more.
We can do that one day next week!I’ll try it again with a spotter, then see about sending it in.
You can actually load 6.8 subsonic, but I never tried any. My barrel is a BSP with a faster twist to handle subs (and supers). Suppresses like most other supers.
You can go with me and be my spotter and see for yourself (about the scope and the suppression).
That'll give you time to load up a big batch for the after party get together. My range streak came to an end yesterday. 49 days straight on range shooting. Range closed next few days for Eid here.

Make a trip of itThat's a nice place.....too bad it's so far from me! lol. I've done some training there.
I stayed at a hotel 2 nights in whatever city is down the interstate about 10 miles from the range, when I was doing training there. It wasn't bad.....is all that nasty interstate construction done? That was a barrel of fun at 5 am!Make a trip of it
Come up, a CFF luncheon and range day, stay in the area for the night then head back
Im sure there are lots of places you could crash - I have an extra bedroom if you ever needed!
Happy day, youngster!Shot (3) 2oz shots of Jameson with 15 family members for my 43rd tonight. Life is good. Plenty of guns, ammo, & family. None is for sale!

With her eyes closed? Impressive. After about 30 minutes for practice and going over the basics, she was able to keep all shots on a paper plate at 10 yards.
