Last time we played this game they sent a "supervisor" out after not being satisfied with my standard answer. The supervisor got very aggressive about having to cite me if I didn't answer the full census. I told her that's fine, but I was going to call the Sheriff if she didn't leave.

She left.

We go through this every decade.

They all try to bluff that BS until you drop your britches standing at your front door then they all leave. Hell the JW have taken me off there list!

I just asked my wife and we have never seen or heard of a "Census Enumerator" where we live. I'm neither endorsing or criticizing, but two out of three of the doors they'd knock on around here would likely get them firmly rebuked... if the dogs let them even get near the door. I suspect there are PLENTY of places in the USA that "Census Enumerators" wouldn't be foolish enough to just go wandering about knocking on doors.

I know of several places in Kentucky that I'd pay big money to see a stranger walk up on the porch or even in the front yard for that matter.
 
We got selected for the American Housing Survey in 2015. Holy crap, what an intrusive questionnaire and annoying group of interviewers. It took them a long time to take no for an answer.

They were the "poor unfortunate" folks the first time they showed up and I answered all the questions I was going to answer. The fourth time they showed up, they were just pains in my butt.
 
Any dumbass can call and claim to be a census worker or even the grand poobah of the planet Xenexia for that matter. It doesn’t make it so. If they think someone is going to give personal info to some cold caller they got another thing coming.

Oh, and all those “you are required by law“, statements on the forms, I’m happy to show them my opinion of “law”.
 
Just had a call from yet another census lady. This one is insistent that I do her census so they can "close it out." I told her like I told the other one, I'm not participating in this and I don't think I'm legally required to.

She agreed, and then she said they'll be calling me every month on the 19th......fabulous news.

Isn't this now verging on harassment?

If you answer the door wearing nothing old underwear holding a handgun most people find a reason to leave you be and don't return. If they still don't leave try gabbling at them in nonsense language and rolling your eyes.
 
I got a census thing in the mail and one left on my door a while later. I trashed both of them. Am I going to jail, or since I wasn't counted maybe I don't exist??
 
Strangely enough, no one showed up at our house, nor did we get the paper census in the mail.
Now that I've written that, I guess they'll show up.

The ones that showed up in 2010 didn't stick around long after I advised them that I had answered all I was going to and that if they were still at my gate when I came back out of the house, I was calling the sheriff.

I list number of people of voting age. No kids information. They can Eff off with that. Kids have a SS#. Govt knows they exist. I check off boxes with "other" as much as I can. The less info I can give them, the better

First of all, "no". Census data can be gathered online, by phone, by letter, and by personal visit.

Second of all, the "Census" only happens once every 10 years. It's now 2021. She needs to wait another 9 years.
 
I tell door knockers that I'm not interested. If they don't take the hint, I politely tell them to listen closely & choose wisely, because I won't repeat myself- get off my property.
 
Yeah. I had one of those show up.

One of the nosy, not from here, liberal, retiree, dogooder types.

First words out of her mouth "aren't you the guy that yelled at me over the phone?"

Me "no I just hang up if I don't wanna talk, but nice introduction".

Has ID but keeps asking questions after I tell her we already filled out the census. Keeps insisting it's a randomly chosen detailed address assessment in person...

I answer a couple questions that can be found by looking up my address all while saying I'm done.

This woman is the definition of the annoying nosey doogooder personality. So naturally I start coming up with off the wall answers, so she brings out the big guns "if you don't talk to me, my supervisor will have to come out"🤣

I calmly tell her they will get the same if they do...

After a few minutes of me being more polite than I wish, it starts to drizzle. I literally give her the "run along before you catch cold plus hand gestures" which she ignores.

After another minute I finally tell her to just leave because she isn't getting anywhere and there is no reason for her to get soaked.

She relents with "threats of her supervisor coming".



Yeah, guess who never showed... Forking people...
 
My response nowadays when I don't know who I'm taking to is always- you do what you gotta do and I'll do the same.... I've never had an issue past that. It's ridiculous we don't know what threats are real or not anymore. I hate technology. (I say this as I type on my new smart phone) :rolleyes:
