I was opening presents at the first of three Christmas get togethers lol To be fair, those aren't cast. I'll get a swaging thread put together soon. Have my 5.7 brass to 30 cal setup now and some 44 stuff now too. :)

Before you make beautiful bullets you have to make beautiful ingots. That's Reloader762 working the ladle on our smelting day last weekend. The round ingots are just some mixed range scrap and some reclaimed castings (less than beautiful bullets or ones that we didn't need). The big pile of ingots is 130+ pounds of wheel weights. Glad to have added to our stash of wheel weights. It's still my favorite alloy for general use. They are getting tougher to come by these days. We've accumulated a fair amount of dead soft sheet lead but the wheel weights seemed to have dried up.

I enjoyed doing that,it was nice to get outdoors and do something for a change. Looking forward to breaking in my new NOE 9mm mold with some of that lead.

Got my new Accurate custom mold in yesterday for the long throated Mosin,it's a 215 gr. FN I had cut to .315" The Lee 185 gr. shoots well but I can' ever touch the leads seating it out as far as I safely can. Going to shoot for as close to 2K fps. as I can get and still maintain good accuracy,it should make a great hunting bullet as well.

Ive been taking advantage of the nice evening breeze and back deck....to cast some pills [emoji2]

Lee TL 158grs @.358
The newer T shaped Lee DC molds work great out of the box.

Cant say the same about the older NOS
452 252gr Lee mold i just bought. That POS is going back to Lee. 150 casts and the top of the mold blocks are gouged all to hell. It wont drop them free unless I beat the handle bolt like a Muslim wife

The sprue plate may be just a tad loose allowing it to drop slightly and nick the mouth of a couple of cavities.

Its so tight I can barely open it by hand. And thats after lubing with antiseize. It was a tad better after hitting it with a candle while hot, but nothing like my newer Lee DCs. I had heard how bad these older ones were but hadnt owned one until now.

QC may have slipped at Lee. I had an oversize/out-of-round mold and returned it to them a couple of months ago.

I bought this one in a lot from a guy on castboolits so Im sure its older by a decade at least. I already filled out the return form to Lee and we will see how they handle it
