In 2007 Taurus brought out a .223 Remington revolver. It also made it to Shot Show, but disappeared after that. This is a Taurus raging judge 28ga revolver prototype, introduced at shot show 2011. The gun was on display for the first half of the show, but seemingly disappeared after a visit from the ATF. Never forget what they took away from you.View attachment 326805
that's a thing? How big is too big? (TWSS)diameter/bore too large for a handgun.
Real shame too, I would have one in a heartbeat.
Can't have a smooth bore shotgun with a barrel <18in (except with some weird exemptions), and a rifle bore can't be over .50 caliberthat's a thing? How big is too big? (TWSS)

It would make a great snake gun, or just a really fun gun to shoot clays withfound it:
26 U.S. Code Ā§āÆ5845.(f) Destructive device: (2) any type of weapon by whatever name known which will, or which may be readily converted to, expel a projectile by the action of an explosive or other propellant, the barrel or barrels of which have a bore of more than one-half inch in diameter, except a shotgun or shotgun shell which the Secretary finds is generally recognized as particularly suitable for sporting purposes
so it's either a shotgun, and too short, or it's a DD.
too bad - that thing is cool in a totally impractical way.
Lol Iād love to see someone shoot clays with it! Iām sure people have tried with the .410 judge. I may have to YouTube that.It would make a great snake gun, or just a really fun gun to shoot clays with

I took a 6 inch Judge and went 1 inch forward of the forcing cone and stripped out all lands and grooves and then polished it mirror bright. It's a decades old system called The Paradox System...yep....hand thrown clays had NO chance!Iām sure people have tried with the .410 judge. I may have to YouTube that.
Then you have the Mossberg Shockwave and Remingtons versions.Assumptions
-you play by the king's (ATF) rules
-Its not registered as an SBS
-I'm not 100% but pretty close
ATF rules relating to this gun would be
-Shotguns (smooth bores) capable of accepting a modern fully contained shot shell (primer, smokless powder, shot together) must be at least 18.5" long. This gun with a 6" barrel would fail if it was a smooth bore and would suck if rifled like the .410 does. Slings the shot all over.
-If it was a handgun with a rifled bore (this is how the .410 gets by) than the diameter/bore can be no larger than 0.50" and I think 28g is around 0.55".
So if they were to make it I think it could only be done so to register it with the NFA from the get go.
Sounds pretty neat. So if I understand correctly the only rifled part is the 1" beyond the forcing cone?I took a 6 inch Judge and went 1 inch forward of the forcing cone and stripped out all lands and grooves and then polished it mirror bright. Yep and perfectly legal...more'n one way to skin a goat!Sounds pretty neat. So if I understand correctly the only rifled part is the 1" beyond the forcing cone?
Buddy of mine built a rifled 32 ga long gun for deer hunting, .458 class.
Someone find some brass hulls !!!
I'll second this. They're normally out but do get a shipment every month sometimes two, but it doesn't last long. I picked up some magtec brass 12g and 410 in Jan.Check or call Ballistic Products
