I bought a 12” bar and chain today and converted it to a limber and in tree saw. Speaking to the salesman who is very knowledgable he suggested the 12” instead of the 14” I wanted. He said at 14” bogged down with an aggressive chain. I also ordered a side tension adjustment converse to replace the factory screw which is under the blade bar. The chain is now a yellow 3/8” instead of the .325” green anti kickback. Have not run it yet.
A new Stihl MS391 is on order from James River. When it gets here I’ll convert the bar to 25” which nobody has nor even the saw at any bar length.
My go to dealer for most lawn stuff said any Stihl product made in Germany is almost impossible to get. Only the Virginia products which are homeowner sizes have been available.
Plan on taking down a large poplar by climbing up in the tree with a 34’ ladder to drop the limbs first. The 12” bar should be easier to manage. Hope this ends well with my house and the neighbors on each side.
