Fuel Prices...

$4.19 today.

25¢ off with GasBuddy
60¢ off with HT

So we paid $3.34. Too bad it cut off at $100 (GasBuddy policy)…couldn’t even get to the 35gal max for HT. Pump said $100, and we ended up paying $93.06.

So she got a full tank and I got ~10.5 gallons. We’d stopped on the way to drop her car off for tires & alignment, so at least we got as much as we could combining discounts.

People will stop making unnecessary trips and stop using so much gas and diesel. Taxes collected on the fuel will drop. Can't have that!

The Dims cannot go into the November elections with today's gas prices and the Ukrane mess. Somewhere around Labor Day things will change and they can go into the elections bragging how they lowered fuel prices and put Russia in their place.

They are trying now, Biden has said as much: inflation and gas prices are directly tied to Putin.

Have a small job fixing a boat in SC. I was dreading the trip. Hmm, while I'm here going to fill up. It beats $4.19+ in Huntersville.

Can you explain how the Gas Buddy deal works? I took a look at the website and it seems kinda vague to me.

I use the card. I know @beamernc uses it without the card. I think I save an extra 3¢ a gallon or something by having the card?

I open the app and see this:

3C0D8243-A6D0-484E-A661-1013C5A34DF5.png

If I click the Shell above that shows 25¢ discount, I get this:

27D39EC5-A02A-42BA-B89B-992CFBA92ED8.png

If I click Activate Discount, I get a screen like this:

70D8AEDC-950A-4BD9-94A5-61EE55B75D97.png

I have four hours to use the discount. If I use my card, it debits my checking account for the discounted total (pump shows the full price), and I get an emailed receipt within 60 seconds or so. Looks like this:

62AC508B-C2FD-471C-8E0F-9282180BFA02.png

So the pump showed the discounted price due to HT fuel points. Then it cut off at $100. And I was charged the $93.06.

If you see in a screen shot above, there’s also a “I did not use my card” button. I can activate a discount at a station my wife is going to stop at and she can bring home a receipt. As long as the time stamp shows it was purchased in the 4-hour window, they’ll credit that amount to my account and it will be applied the next time I’m buying gas.

Don’t know exactly how it works on an account that doesn’t have a card, but I’d guess it’s a similar process (with the lower discount) to me uploading a receipt.

Sometimes the discount is only a nickel or so…but other times it can be significant. I’ve seen 20¢ or more even back when gas was $2 or less.

What I saw on the web site made it appear you build / receive points based on purchases from select retailers. Is the Gas Buddy card a credit card you have to use at these retailers? I'm just a little hesitant to fill out another application online given the world we live in today.

Maybe I'm just over thinking this.............

It’s definitely a separate card, used on the Wex network. But there are no bills to pay, so I’m not sure I’d consider it a credit card? It deducts the money right from my checking account.

Oh yeah. The WEX account.

Have to pay it off every month for our fleet trucks but it does come in handy.

We had those at work.

But the GasBuddy doesn’t rack up bills to pay off, in case that wasn’t clear. Just seems to be set up on their network as far as where it’s accepted.

OH Joy!

We are going to be thrilled when gas goes down to $3.00 a gallon and forget that it it was below $2.00 before Biden.

What would make you think gas prices are going down again?

“Past performance does not guarantee future returns.”

Gas will go down for the mid terms, the dems will not stand a chance if they do not. More and more people on the street are not believing the M5M any more.

As long as they've got the war to blame it on, the .gov won't do anything about prices. That's why it's crucial they keep the action in Ukraine going as long as possible.

Coming down a little. $3.99 today, and then I got 22¢ off with GasBuddy.

Paid $4.50 for Shell Premium today. Gotta love a V8 German engine!

Oil is off 22% from the recent high. It seems gas is sold based on oil’s “future replacement cost” when oil is going up and “cost of goods” when it’s going down.

Diesel dropped by $0.50 or more overnight. Not complaining at all, but WTF?

Edit: Nevermind to the WTF part. See that Sheetz is dropping the price of diesel by $0.50 thru the end of Jan.

When I left work yesterday this Quarles Fleet Fueling center right by work had diesel posted at $3.99. I'm not familiar with this type of gas station, unattended and for fleet use. It says I can use a Visa or Mastercard. Anybody familiar with this type of place know if that is correct? I can just roll in there and tank up with a Visa??

I pass that place on the way to BBQJ’s. Looks like maybe a credit card will work. Certainly worth trying.

I didn't know they had any locations in NC. They were pretty sizable in Virginia. Pretty much from Roanoke across to the coast and up to Manassas and Winchester and nearly everywhere between.

We bought their delivered fuels division last year. All the fueling locations and wholesale distribution were bought by another company at around the same time

They’ve compensated by raising gasoline at least that much. 🤬

Wow !!!!!
That brings it to only $4.00 than it should be !!!!!!
Thank you Sheetz and ‘Dribbles’ the clown.
FYI they are making it up in gas revenue. The gas went up .25 in 8 days !

I just read where they predict $4.00 for reg gas by Memorial Day and not going below $3.xx all year.

I'm pretty sure you have to have a fleet aaccess card to use them. Or that's how it was when we serviced them.

I'm gonna try next time I need to fuel up. Nothing to lose. If it works I'm worried they use those huge diesel nozzles. My truck's huge cooter can handle those, but the petite VW can't.

Somebody sausage fingered the pump prices in Copperas Cove, Texas Monday. My son filled the truck, Explorer, and two 5 gallon cans at $2.17.

I don’t even look at it. I get gas and diesel at the same place unless out of town and one of the vehicles is thirsty. They are always lower or with 5 pennies of others.
