I know Bear Creek is inexpensive, but is it functionally cheap or hot garbage cheap?

I would at-least buy psa if you want to be cheap.

Bca does have pretty decent customer service but they are just SO cheap. Psa atleast offers some nicer barrel profiles and better furniture options. Better chance of getting one the way you want it.

From my experience they need to atleast be disassembled and reassembled properly. After that if it runs it should be a good gun. If it doesn't they will take care of it.

They really do offer a solid value. I have several friends who have bought them with good luck.

I've been debating their bufferless stuff..... Probably going to wait for a gen 2 though lol

Depends on your usage. Range toy? It's fine for that. Serious application for classes or work, no. I worked on a few and half of them I couldn't remove the barrel on. Was told by BCA someone used Loctite on a lot of them by "accident". Was so bad, I broke my wrench and my finger. Now my range toys I have a few BCA uppers on them, and they seem fine to me.

I had the same question several years ago and when I asked @11B CIB, that was his response.
Listening to him has set me back thousands upon thousands of dollars. That being said I do have some very nice rifles and gear because of it!

I wouldn't buy a BCA when PSA exists, I also wouldn't buy a PSA when Ballistic Advantage sales exist. Just my 2cents.

Just a touch more money can get you an upper that you can rely on for serious stuff.

I probably should add, I don’t really care for ARs. I mostly feel like I should have one, and I want to make my liberal friends angry. Also looking at a 300BO upper.

BCA...bout the only thing I buy is the cheap barrels, for just "shooters", bought several of
their Bull Barrels, some SS 300 BO barrels, be careful of the descriptions "gas block size"
.850 turned out to be .936, .850 turned out to be .750, Wylde was Nato. Customer service
basically is hit or miss. So with that I shy away from everything else.
Me personally if I want accuracy I'll buy quality things, to just shoot n practice it's what ever.
Same with the M1A's, Kreiger Barrels for the target stuff, stock barrels to practice.

Most of the uppers are Aero, still have a supply of "Colt uppers" A1's, but it depends on what you
want and do.

If this is the goal you need a 80% AR lower

ASSault wEap∆nS make libs angry but GHOST GUNS really set them off.
Valid point, but AR is angry enough. I am thinking I’m going to build a range toy 300BO pistol, they have a $170 7.5” complete upper, plus BigWaylon’s $20 MAS Defense tube, upgrade the buffer (I think I need H2 or H3 for pistol length gas tube to help slow the bolt), and a basic LPK that I’ll polish before installing to help it out. Should come in right around $300, and could be a just in case truck pistol as well once I got it running right.

I have one of their uppers and know of others that have had multiple of them and no issues, even decent to good accuracy. So as long as you don't try to remove the barrel they are g2g, lol.
And hope that they put an appropriate gas block on a pistol length gas system? They probably plan that out well, right?!? 🤣

I have many BCA uppers and I am more than satisfied with the accuracy and dependability of them. My most recent is a 7.5 inch 7.62x39 side charge upper I bought expressly for coyote hunting with my thermal. I was ringing steel at 200 yards with it Saturday..

How do you like their side chargers? Saw them mixed in with normal uppers and was wondering.

My BCA 300BLK upper is a side charger and I love it. I shoot mostly subs in it and if I load some mouse fart rounds I can cycle it by hand real easy.

Back during covid they started producing the side chargers to work around parts shortages, at least that's what they stated on their website.

Combat Armory > BCA?

I have a friend that bought so much from CA, they ended up giving him free upper (or maybe barrel. I'l have to check our texts) as a thank you for his business.

Edit: I had that completely wrong. He says he got an email from BCA with a tracking number and a letter saying thanks for being a productive member of their FB group. They (BCA) were sending him a free upper, not Combat Armory.

My 22 is a side charger. It's a bit of a pita removing the handle every time you pull the bolt and the hole in the side is big enough for all sorts of debris, but it works fine.

I'll never buy another rear charging upper. Side charge only for me now.
I have also noticed a few other high end AR manufacturers starting to offer side chargers.
Side chargers are okay...it's mainly a preference is how I see it.

Off Topic not an AR...that's why I like HK's..91's, 93's, MP5's... just a thought..

Man, I may have to jump on that. I've been wanting a .300 side charger with a folding stock adapter for a backpack gun.

BCA stuff, I treat like a partially assembled parts kit.

On occasion some of it is good to go, right off jump, but often isnt... but will freely admit their "12.7x42mm" (.50 Beowulf) barrels are suprisingly accurate.

I'm sure every company has a hiccup but one thing I can say about BCA is that they ship things fast.

Although they took 4 solid weeks to get parts from an order that was incomplete to the mail room.

I shoulda just drove the 60 miles.

And like everything you buy gun related, the ultimate responsibility rests in you, so tighten the nuts.

And whomever above that said 80%ers to tick off liberal friends is right, if you have liberal friends...

And whoever said they don't like ARs but feel they should own one is also right.

Currently, the Supreme Court litmus test for bans is whether a weapon is in common use by law abiding people, so ARm up my brothers, in every configuration you can think of...

I browsed enough they finally offered me up at 10% off code as well. I’ll be ordering tonight. Do you like the stainless that much better?
I don’t know about BCA barrels, but I am generally a fan of SS barrels, especially if it’s only costing me an extra $10.

10% off code doesn't work on sale items. It's $211 shipped. I just ordered one and will grab a 4th of July lower on sale somewhere this weekend. PSA has complete MOE blem lowers for $130.

BCA bufferless upper with one of those REAP bullpup lowers would trigger all kinda people. 😂

I’ve been hem hawing a BCA 450 for a few years now.
I know it says no super short barrels but a 10" bullpup 9mm would be a hoot, at least until I shot my support hand off.

Well now I have to call them out for being shady. They say free shipping the whole way though then drop $25 fedex or $30 UPS at check out…

Yep. Conditional free shipping if you order more than $300…
