For those of you who are young, or don't follow F-1, Riccardo Patrese is one of the all-time greats in Formula 1. He never won the Driver's Championship, but he has finished 2nd in 1992 behind his team-mate Nigel Mansell, and 3rd on two occasions.

When he retired, he had the longest Formula 1 career in history, only to be surpassed by Rubens Barrichello 15 years later.

In this clip, he is really testing his marriage as he takes his wife out in a Honda Civic Type-R and doesn't hold back.

This is one of my favorite videos of this type... I've watched it dozens of times over the years, and it always makes me smile.

(But, for the record, my wife would not (I repeat, NOT) get past the fear and move into the smiling phase. She'd probably start screaming, and then wouldn't talk to me for a month.)

What a good sport she is!

I took Elaine for a ride in the CRX on the North Course at VIR once. She was a pretty good sport about it but I didn't really go as fast as I could have. Now Kate, my step-daughter, got a ride at Rockingham. Full bore, petal to the metal and she laughed the whole time.

I took Amy with me to the BMW plant and on a hot lap ride in an M5 with a professional driver. She cussed the whole time but was ear to ear smile when we got back.

I got a nice tour of that plant when I was supplying leather to make the x5 steering wheels. Simply amazing!

Yea, uh no. My wife doesn't go for "joyrides" with me anymore. lol

Civic?
Imagine how she would have felt in an F1 car!

Back at Laguna Seca in the late 90's, they had a 2 place CART car. Mario Andretti was taking big wigs out in it. Most people passed out after a couple turns/braking. Mario was doing what seemed to be incredibly fast laps in that car and i think a couple laps would have put him respectably on the actual race grid!

Unfortunately, that was the weekend Gonzalo was killed at the top of corkscrew.

Took a ride with a Porsche driver once (not an owner, but a factory driver) in a 911 while at the Daytona 24 (no, wasnt on the track, just a course they had setup in the parking lot)...I didnt curse, I didnt say anything...too big of a smile to talk!

There is no way my wife would have ever agreed to get in that car with me or anyone else. I can get her wound up just driving normally.
