Civil War: modern version

It looks like the Nick Offerman POTUS is supposed to be evil (ie Trump) and the West coast is going to save the world.

So it is an elect Trump=civil war movie.

At least from what I can see in the trailer.

I’m sure I can guess which side wins…

The "Western Forces" were Texas and California. That threw me off. The "Florida Alliance" made much more sense.

Are they trying to scare the sheep?
Maybe so and maybe that's not a bad thing. I've heard and seen a bit of chest thumping over the last few years. Some from the right and some from the left. More than a few people seem to think "the other side" needs a knuckle sandwich but they don't seem to understand what that would really look like.

Maybe some people need to be scared a little more than they are if they think that taking the gloves off is a good thing.

Could be cool. Or it could be just another “see what will happen if we keep letting these rednecks keep their guns and demand freedom and stuff!”

Isn't there a theory that Hollywood implants ideas or puts future plans in plain sight through Hollywood? Either way I hope this is a Fandango at home option?

More than likely "woke" Hollywood types wrote this. Therefore you already know it's gonna be ghey.

Looks like pure predictive programming...i.e. the Contagion movie from several years ago.

Zero percent chance that this is not purposeful psychodrama.

It's a movie. Will it be entertaining? If you think so, watch it. If no, then skip it.

life imitates art vs art imitates life.

i prefer to mix it up and say that the lie imitates fart.

Call me crazy but I don't think a civil war would be a war of attrition. I think it would be fast and severe. I don't see the rank and file military going along with orders from dudes in dresses.
The government has been purging the military, starting with obummer and now under Biden.

Pretty much. The Netflix movie Leave the World Behind is another one. Seems like the left is trying to get people to gear up for war. They want their side to start prepping and get used to the idea that civil unrest is necessary to "fix" things. That was one of the excuses for the violence in 2020. There are injustices that need to be fixed and the only way to do that is violence.

Part of the motive is to scare the left into some sort of action. I just can't quite tell what that's supposed to be just yet. I have an idea though.

The military is being purged of those guilty of wrongthink and there's an army of AI enabled robots that'll be along soon to replace the southerners and farmers that used to fight our wars.

I read a hit piece on the current impeachment on WRAL the other day. Almost to the word everything it said was UNTRUE for this proceeding and TRUE for the last two. Crazy.

In what world does Texas and California fight on the same side? 😂😅🤣🤣😅🤣That shows you how out of touch the people making this are.
probably a world where california has overflowed its borders and people took their crappy politics with them to texas.
total fiction, amirite?
(this was probably all filmed long before the recent TX events regarding the border)

I guess it's due to the times we are living in that your statement actually makes sense to me.

In the world of entertainment.
It's a movie, not a documentary, my dude.

Just watch because it's got a bunch of gun fights etc and dont question too much here

And Ex Machina

And Annihilation. And Sunshine. And Dredd.

When we saw the trailer before Dune Part Two, the miss leaned over to me and asked, “since when would Texas and California team up?”

I’ve enjoyed everything Garland has touched. He reminds me of Verhoeven. PV never let the “point” of the movie—whatever political or social issue he sees as a theme—get in the way of making a good movie with interesting characters (Robocop, Total Recall, Starship Troopers… everything except Showgirls).
