In the video game EVE online, I am part of the Test Alliance Please Ignore and we are going to war. Main target is Pandemic Legion areas. never been on a campaign of this sort since playing EVE online. I have been in a few fleets with Bombers Bar and those were fun, so I can only wait and see how this campaign goes.

That is all and I know my nerd lvl is rising as the time comes closer which the official campaign starting tomorrow.

I'm excited, deal with it. Yes it is a video and people get in to this game pretty hardcore.

that is all,

so lets the smack talk about video games begin lol.

This is the first major war for TEST since last year.

Just a few previous battles and wars

Some of the biggest wars in EVE

the above war led to the one below

a few years later this battle happened and I got to par take in it

deal with it lol. I like video games and so does a lot of others. Some might understand this some might not, but please lets not derail the thread too much.

I was in a couple of noob guilds when I Eved, war always meant being confined to station to not run up the casualty figures.

I did take part in one battle in a frigate as part of a tackling swarm. No glory but it's funny as hell watching battleships grind to a halt when a huge cloud of hard to hit fast and stealthy frigates lock on with tractor beams (iirc) and drop their angular momentum down to sod all so the big guns can tear them a new one.

Yea he are gonna be running through systems and taking citadels and territory claim hubs. Probably gonna run in to some capitals. Oh well kinda thing.

I have become a big of of running logistics and EWAR ships.

But my absolute favorite is bombers

I was in the old IAC when they fought BOB way back in the day. Always enjoyed frigate swarms or flying a stealth scout.

You for real? If so I would never guessed you played EVE.

I enjoy flying a bombers fleet. Fun stuff to have a capital ship tackled then drop 80 bombers on them. Then watch them rage when they are late with their other capitals.

No social life, 4 hours sleep a night and a very unhealth lifestyle. I’m a former addict - not this game but it’s the same I think. It’s the cooperative aspect that draws you in... I’ve since sworn off anything that doesn’t have a pause button.

Warframe was eating up most of my gaming time, but the guy who drove the clan is without hardware right now.

Just one question. How in the hell do you find the time?

Just down times around here. I don't play all day and the corp I am in the number one rule is real life comes first lol. Its a game where I can spend all day doing something or just a few minutes.

I have never had a social life so that doesn't bother me or the family lol. I know my limits lol. I almost let gaming consume me but caught it before it did.

I played warframe. It was ok. I used to play a lot of AMRA III but these updates and random server wipes is/was getting old.

I was in the Fountain Alliance on EvE way back.....first major war for territory was with Curse Alliance and BoB.

Wars are good times.... will take over your life for a bit, will be filled with unbelievable highs and rage inducing lows.

The times in between wars - patrolling systems looking for pirates and ore theives not so much.

The cool thing about EvE is the player base run factions/governments that hold and control vast expanses of the map, the true to life economics that can be manipulated and exploited.....and the fact that it all happens on a single server (I think the last I was active, the total players online and playing at one time was 33,000+).

Plus, it's visually stunning (and player run radio stations gives it a great soundtrack).

Heck yeah y’all, I was a major gamer geek back before I got married and had a herd of kids. I still have my eve character, just haven’t logged in in a year or so.

As far as time to play answer for Chdamn: this was back before kids, when I lived alone. Would buy a few packs of smokes, a case of beer, and play video games. Was a poor kid in college/right after so I didn’t have money or the personality to chase the ladies.

Now a days I play games I can turn on for 10-30 minutes once in a while and have fun. Gone are the days of long hours owning noobs and cursing at the screen.

Looks like fun. The only time I really game is when I’m off work on Tuesdays and my wife is at work. Other than that we still like each other too much for me to find time the rest of the week. I ran a couple of small alliances on other games, so I know how much fun they can be. This is the first I’ve seen of this game. Could you just do this one or two days a week or is that not nearly enough?

I ran a Battlefield 2 clan (Vital Shot Squad) and one of the top ranked servers for a year or two in its height of popularity. It was truly a thrill to run around in a 6 man squad, everyone on VoIP, competent people at the controls of the delivery/assault vehicle...I’m starting to twitch with flashbacks...

It was an integral component of my 7-year college 4-year degree program.

I haven’t played much in a while so things could have changed with recent updates. But back when I did play eve was a pretty hard core grind. A few hours here and there wasn’t really enough time to accomplish much other than running a few missions of refreshing some trade orders.

I would never tell someone >not< to try it, but as far as hard core MMOs, EVE was one of the most brutal.

I played Red Orchestra with some germans like that once. They asked me what I did best. I said lmg so one of them let me take the slot (incredibly rare behaviour!). We racked up more Russians than I have ever gotten. It's so rare to have support in online shooters. I had at least one rifle or smg trooper watching my six at all times rotated out when they ran out of belts to feed me for the MG42. Glorious. We pinned down an entire side of the map with three or four guys.

@ChickenHawk get you a free account, and find a corporation in a big alliance like TEST, Goonswarm, Pandemic Legion, Pandemic Horde and they give out free stuff for newbros to get you up and going.

Like TEST alliance, they give out free skill books and ships to get you ratting (pve), fleet PVP, or mining. I even thing TEST has stuff for exploration which is my main income in the game. Exploring is fun stuff.

Most Corps and Allinces have SRP (ship replacement programs) so if you loose your ship to something that you didn’t do, most will replace them or comp the price for it

You guys do this and get laid, or is it a mutually exclusive kinda thing?

Oh I get laid fairly regularly. Plus the wife has started to play as well.

Also I had a couple big battles but my recording software wasn’t working like i wanted. I’ll post up what I was able to get recorded

We get laid just as much as people who spend hours per day staring at a TV wondering which sports team is going to sports the best. Or as much as people who sit starting at forums. Or as much as people who spend hours in a garage working on the spranket crank timer that is out of line on their diesel transducer muffin. Or those who wake up ever weekend and spend the day playing with balls and sticks walking around wasted rifle ranges. In short, we get just as much as anyone else who has a hobby they enjoy.

Remember, Fantasy Football is just D&D for jocks.

It's the turbo encabulator. Get it right.

Speaking of which, do you think legalizing sports betting will be the end of fantasy football?

I've met some fun, hot and crazy (my favourite combo) chicks through nerd shit. First BDSM party I ever went to was at a gaming convention. And nerd girls are rarely unwilling to try new stuff.... Or teach some.

It's older, but the truth of it still rings true.
