Still, wouldn't want 10,000 more of them clogging up the roads which will not be improved regardless of the money the .gov collects (reported) for that purpose.
Please, NO. too crowded here already.
Have you seen what Wake Co did to Hwy-55 between Fuquay and Apex?!? What used to be a 55-60mph drive in busy traffic is now a 15-20 mph drive with only u-turns allowed. "Super Highway" my hind parts. We had to leave Wake Co.The roads around here are pretty good from what I have seen elsewhere. Nobody builds roads ahead of time - it’s always a reaction to overcrowded roads and takes time. Any area that is growing will have some congestion.
That is pretty baffling. That sort of road design must be the latest "in" thing in highway engineering. Like the strange intersection on the bridge at Southpoint Mall.Have you seen what Wake Co did to Hwy-55 between Fuquay and Apex?!? They've done the same thing on 17 in Leland outside Wilmington. That is pretty baffling. That sort of road design must be the latest "in" thing in highway engineering. Like the strange intersection on the bridge at Southpoint Mall.
Yup, we lived there for 11 years, with the Nor'easter invasion and the infrastructure they failed to plan for, we had to go.They've done the same thing on 17 in Leland outside Wilmington.
My wife has to drive to Raleigh from Holly Springs a few afternoons each week in rush hour. Calls it "Hell Springs" now.
I'd love to get down US1 in your direction if I could figure out where to go.Yup, we lived there for 11 years, with the Nor'easter invasion and the infrastructure they failed to plan for, we had to go.
We looked for land for 1.5 years, found 20ac of woods on the river 2.5min off US-1, our little slice of heaven.I'd love to get down US1 in your direction if I could figure out where to go.
“Super Streets” or “Synchronized Streets.” They’re definitely one of NCDOT’s soup du jours...or however you say “years” in fancy speak.Have you seen what Wake Co did to Hwy-55 between Fuquay and Apex?!? As soon as the no left turn lights went in the traffic dropped to sub 20, no more slow traffic use left lane because folk are slowing down at every left/u-turn. Got to see some explosive T-bone wrecks that shut the road down, and folk coming off the highway and immedietly crossing 3 lanes to get to the next left in heavy traffic. It's a friggin' nightmare.“Super Streets” or “Synchronized Streets.” They’re definitely one of NCDOT’s soup du jours...or however you say “years” in fancy speak.
They work, albeit frustratingly to those who want to use the side streets. They essentially remove a lot of conflicting turning movements that gum up an intersection. For instance, you have US-74 traffic waiting several minutes for the different side street movements to clear during a signal cycle. Meanwhile, 74 is backing up 1/2 mile or more at the signal.

God I hope not....

I failed to mention, da gubmnt has timed the lights so you enjoy the pretty red color on 90% of them.I still live in FV. You are 100% correct. A nightmare only getting worse. Been here 22 years. 10 more to go.
They synched the lights a long time ago in town here on the main roads, but at some point the sheer number of cars overwhelms the system."If you can figure out a practical and feasible way to successfully mitigate traffic in an economical way AND get a few state DOTs to buy into it, you sir will make PowerBall winners look like middle income!"
1. practical: synch the lights.
2. feasible: synch the lights.
3. economical: see above.
yes, it's been done, but obviously not enough to matter that much...and it's always someone's interpretation of the data which results in the delays.
