I've been wanting to try one of these suckers for a long time. Somehow, I lucked up and got an early 1934 walnut-stocked, all matching rifle with between 3-400 rounds of GP11 for $500.

Unfortunately, my joy was slightly diminished by the lack of a troop tag.

Sucker's just about pristine.
Any knowledge you guys can impart that isn't readily available online?
Definitely going to get some stripper clips- there's a guy on Ebay who is 3d printing new ones and I'm thinking I might give them a go.

The 7.5 is actually the land diameter, .308 is the bore diameter, so you can get bullets for reloading most anywhere.

Yep, good score on that one. Grease it up and go have fun!

Mine was dead-on at 300 yards with GP-11. Easy rifle to shoot.

Forget the troop tag. You stole that gun.

Do you guys find that GP11 is really "match" ammo?
Should I use PRVI and save the GP?

Not sure I would refer to it as match ammo but it's damn hard to find and with Privi running in the .80 cent per RD range it makes shooting the rifle costly.

Look up Bloke on the Range on YouTube. He’s a Brit living in Switzerland and knows his stuff on Swiss rifles. He also competes with them.

Sweet deal and beautiful rifle. If you want to reload for it, .284 Winchester cases make stout 7.5x55 cases. Just run 'em through a 7.5 die to open up the neck and reduce loads by 10% to account for the thicker brass.

Best Ammo I ever shot out of my Schmidt-Rubins. I consider it match quality.

I own several K-31s and K-11s. They are great rifles from the get go. GP-11 ammo is getting harder and harder to find, but man is it good. I have only shot PRVI once and it was ok. Good back up though. I really should suck it up and buy the reloading dies and be done with it.

Are you saying GP-11 is OK ammo at best, perhaps no better than belt fed 7.62x51?

Oh no...GP 11 is damn good ammo but it was not technically designated as match ammo. It was pretty much standard issued ammo. But man if you can find it buy it!

With the Swiss and the Swedes, standard issued ammo is better than the match ammo made most anywhere else. I've never had a K-31 that shot better with something other than GP-11.

That is a fantastic detail on a beautiful rifle. :) I love Swiss K-31s. I want one something fierce and I wish I'd had the money to buy one when they were cheaper a few years back. They're beautiful, shoot amazingly, have a fantastic action, and are the one milsurp rifle I genuinely want to add to my collection. I don't own one, but I know that the ammo is a bit hard to find. My one suggestion I can make is to get into reloading if you aren't already, as I have a feeling handloads are going to be your best bet for ammo availability, and for maximizing accuracy of the rifle! Other than that, enjoy this. Shoot it and make it yours. I'm definitely scouring the board here looking for one of my own, so while I'm not the jealous type, I hope you make the most of what you have! I know I would. :D

My long range shooter. A 1943 walnut stock with a Swiss Products clamp on mount and a Nikon 3-9x scope. The club I belonged to had steel at 400 yds which this hit easily with my mediocre handloads.

A superior rifle for a left handed shooter like me!

I got one made 1935. Troop tag and all great shooter one of my favorites

On paper the round is similar to 308 or m2 ball 30-06. But I can tell you my steel knew the difference. The k31 kept knocking the swinging targets off the stands while the other rounds would just cause them to sway a bit

Got a k31 and k11, the trigger on the k11 is superb, amazing considering it’s an almost 100 year old gun. If anyones on the fence about getting one, do it! Also the fmj ppu ammo will just decimate a tree, may or may not have cut one down with it during some family Christmas tomfoolery. Blows chunks of wood out the back of one about as big around as your thigh.
