Great Song From The Early '70's

I'm kind of on temporary cruise control right now as far as work is concerned. That's why I've been posting music videos and such.

Waiting on some building contractors to get back to me with some quotes.

Anyway, I pulled this video from YouTube. I watched and listened to several hits from the '70's today.

I read some of the comments below the videos. What I find extremely intetesting is some of the young folks, kids under 18, some very young, commenting on how they love the music from that era and wish they were growing up back then.

I saw a whole bunch of those comments on various videos featuring different bands and artists.

Very telling about the current state of affairs and also why I haven't given up on today's youth.

Sorry for the bump.

They made some great music back then, but to be fair they also made some very bad music as well. If you have any doubt check out "Seasons in the Sun" by Terry Jacks or "Billy Don't Be a Hero" by Bo Donaldson, both from around the same period. They are Leonard Pinth-Garnell bad.

Freedom, keep walkin'
Keep on your toesand don't stop talkin' 'bout
Freedom, get goin'
Lots to be learned and lots to be known 'bout
People gotta reach 'em
Sit 'em right down and then you gotta teach 'em 'bout
Freedom, gotta win it
Gotta put yourself smack dab in it

Hey tomorrow
Now don't you go away
'Cause freedom
Just might come your way

Freedom, keep tryin'
People stay alive and people keep dyin' for
Freedom, so don't lose it
Ya gotta understand ya just can't abuse it
Freedom, get movin'
Never gonna stop till everybody's groovin' on
Love for - one another
Callin' some friend and callin' some brother

Hey tomorrow
You're not so far away
Mother freedom
We'll know you well someday

Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting

Blistering guitar riffs and will give you a lead foot when driving!

I used to spin this on my roommate's stereo and blast his JBLs while getting ready for weekend nights when I was 18.

In fact, I'm blasting it on some 1989 Bose 501's right now. :D

No disagreement from me. My point was merely the fact that I'm fascinated by the comments from young people regarding the time period and some of the music from that era.

It was a very turbulent time period back then, much like today. However, when I was fifteen years old in 1978, I never had a thought about wishing that I could have lived my childhood in 1932.

I mostly wanted to see if anyone would get the Leonard Pinth-Garnell reference.

Doors fan all the way, but Grand Funk Railroad early seventies had a few I can groove to. It gets real funcky about two fourty five into it.

I forgot you too are a Grand Funk Fan. I saw them at the Charlotte Coliseum in the early 70's.

I have to mention that my 21 year old, the same one who borrows my CDs, announced two months ago he was buying tickets to see Clapton, Winwood, and Santana.
I shouted, "Where?!" "Can I go?!"
He said, "Hyde Park"
I said, "London?"
He said, "Yup"

He got himself a passport, plane tickets, airbnb, and is headed here tomorrow to fly out in a couple of days. All on his dime.
I'm a little jealous.

What a Band
1970

And any country boy who lived in a big city for any length of time can appreciate this song.

One of my favorites from the early 70s was Hellen Reddy's surreal "Angie Baby"

And, in my opinion, you cannot get out of the early 70s, much less the entire decade itself, without one of the greatest classics of the decade: Stairway to Heaven, by Led Zepplin:

I love listening to Fred Turner belt his way through Not Fragile. As far as I'm concerned, this is some of Bachman-Turner Overdrive's best music.

I bought this LP when I was a young'n. I still have it. :D
