I'll listen to the old/real country music all day long.
I don't know why they call this new stuff country, cause it ain't.

Anyone remember real country music?

Solo is so short and sweet with proper twang and a tele of course.

Modern country lead players sound like they learned to play guitar in Hollywood and played in hair metal bands in the 80s. Meh.

Jason Isbell described it best "Nashville didn't ruin county music. Lotta good burgers in this town; no one's forcing you to eat at McDonald's." There is probably just as much good country music out there right now than at any time before. But using the internet to find it is a must.

Yes, it's still out there. You just have to find it for yourself.

Oh my goodness, I used to be in love with Buck!

How'd this thread get this far without mentioning Porter Wagoner? I can remember watching this with my grandparents in the early 60's when my father was overseas. Lawrence Welk and listening to the Grand Ole Opry over the radio.

Grandma watched Hee Haw and Dad watched Lawrence Welk but none of it stuck. I think I have a few cheesey bluegrass CD's and maybe a Zac Brown one lying around from the wife. Oh, and a handful of Ryan Bingham's stuff. Most country isn't dark or blue enough for me. But there is a time and place. I have enjoyed a lotmof nights at Nashville 's music joints.
