How come they hardly have any signs on their streets??? They have a few with signs over the street beside the traffic lights, but are we supposed to just pick a street and go for it?

Yes, I drove up and down Skibo a few times looking for Yadkin Rd. Lol.
I know I'm direction-challenged, but they gotta at least help me out with a sign!
Had to call the range and get a landmark to look for!

Just a suggestion, try using the google maps function on your cell phone or tablet. Let's you select a starting point, then a destination , works as a GPS, with voice, no more getting lost

The Yadkin side is there, it is just off center because the road changes names on the other side of Skibo to McPherson Church Rd. So that sign is centered and you don't think to look off center at the Yadkin sign. A lot of road name changes in Fayetteville.

I didn't have the app on my phone yesterday....but put mapquest on today!
Google (or bing?) gave me bad directions once. They directed me south when I needed to go north, so now I use mapquest.
But a voice is still going to tell me to "turn left on Yadkin" right, and if there's not a sign on the street, I'm thinking even a voice app can't help me. Lol. Am I missing something?
PS I can always get lost, but thanks for the encouragement!

I swear, I scrutinized those overheads closely as I went under them, never saw Yadkin!!! But now I know where Jim's isis (near WallyWorld) so I'm all set to go shooting! (I remember seeing McPherson Church Rd. though!)
Not to be rude, but Fayetteville was a zoo the other morning! Lol. Have you been to Sakura Jr.? How was it if so.
I hate getting lost!

Guns plus in Spring Lake also has an indoor shooting range.
Also. There seems to be a lot of stupid stuff going on at the walmart by Jim's. Be careful if you go there.

Fayette'nam baby! Welcome to the jungle...:D
...and 325 is spot on about the "ghetto-mart"...you can go train at Jims and then pull in there afterwards after dark, and sometimes in the middle of the day, and then you might get to put your training to the test.

Haha. Fayetteville will never shed that nickname. This town is no better, and no worseworse, than any other town/city. Most crime is usually committed in certain areas by certain people. Learn to avoid those areas.
I have done air conditioning work on the Murch, Bunce road, etc, never a problem.
The key is to remain alert at all times. Act like a victim, and you will become a victim.

If it's outside of town/city limits, chances are there'll be no street name sign. NCDOT does not provide those; only the little black and white SR number signs. Inside of town/city limits, the municipalities usually pick up that tab.

I'm not familiar with FayetteNam or where its limits are. But if it's like any other town, the limits could bob and weave across roads where you'd think you're still in the limits, but actually are not. At about $150 per sign blade, places aren't too prone to go posting signs outside of their jurisdiction.

The city maintains their own signage. Outside city limits, its the county's responsibility. And they're pretty good about it.
It can get confusing driving around town though. Skibo becomes Pamalee, which becomes Country Club. Same stretch of road, different names. MacPherson church road becomes yadkin road at the skibo intersection. Confusing.

The app doesn't need the sign to give correct directions, it will tell you someting like in 500 feet turn left on to yadkin road. So even if there's no sign but a.road is there that would be the.one to.take.if you take the wrong road it will recalibrate the directions to make up for the wrong turn,
You must trust in the force Luke.
Last year I drove from here to siler city to the vets office to adopt my new pup, google maps took me right to the location no problem,
No offense, but you remind me of my wife ,she once left here to go to hickory and called me two hours later and Said I'm in Asheville, what do I do.she became upset when I said turn around and drive in the other direction

Then there is the ever popular FAYTALBURG

I tried that, she can find any tv show she wants to watch on Netflix, Hulu, or Kodi, but swears the GPS is to complicated for her to operate, I think it's just easier for her to say, you have to take me,

1) Sounds great, but how am I going to know when I've gone 500 feet?? I'm not! Trust me...
2) I DON'T have the force, or I'd never get lost! Lol.
3) As for your poor lost wife, I hope she pinched you hard when she got home!! Lol. And tell her please that it took me well over 2 hours to find Lumberton years ago! It was awful. All I wanted was to get to the hospital to check out a clinical trial, and was already stressed from my cancer diagnosis, and I've never been back there!
4) No offense taken. It's a running joke in the family that I have issues with directions. I'm used to it, and give myself plenty of time to get somewhere.

Please don't even think I might get to test out my training!!! Don't jinx me...lol.

I drove thru that parking lot the other day! What did you see?
(Looking up Spring Lake. I've been close enough to see signs for it.)
Are you saying not to go to Jim's?

GPS's are great and all, but common sense should tell a driver to verify the street you're turning onto via signage. Otherwise...

Just watch out when it tells you 'RECALCULATING', you may end up on a logging road.

I've been all over the United States with only the help of a GPS, and none of these horror stories have happened to me, just lucky i guess

I'm guessing those people didn't need to be behind the wheel to start with, I should have stated a GPS and and some common sense. What happens if you go somewhere and the signs been knocked down or torn down by an act of God like the wind or storm,do you just sit there till somebody comes along and puts up a new sign or do you use your common sense and get on about your business?

We might be married to the same girl.

Not go to Jim's? Not at all. Just giving you another range to check out.

I personally stop and ask for directions, but only if the area looks ok.
If it looks sketchy, I drive on till I'm even more lost or till I find a better place to ask for help.more
That's the best I can do, and luckily I've been able to find my destination.

If it's farther away than Jim's, I probably won't go, but I appreciate having options! I might get a wild hair and venture out.

Did you tell me about the Wal-Mart parking lot yet? What was going on? Come on, don't leave me wondering!

Not going to Spring Lake! Looked up directions, too many turns....I've got a headache just reading them!
Thanks for the option, and if the IQ fairy visits me with a few extra points, I'll think about going! Lol.

I know some towns/cities are like this, but from what I remember, Fayetteville seemed to be bad about the roads changing name at random points...donā€™t remember much about the actual road signage though. I did most of my Fayettenam driving by landmarks and with my head down! :D
