***Please do not make this a bashing thread; if you don't like the NFL...move on. TY

Well, it isn't a good year so far. Every team I've pulled for has lost or is losing. Cowboys played like crap and deserve their loss! Who would have thought Tampa Bay would put up thise points against Drew Brees and the Saints???

DS

Dude that TB/NO game was great - 88 points total!
Browns held their own against a, typically, good team. And they didnt LOSE lol
Glad to see the Panthers win the opener

Also, @DirtySCREW , you know someone will come in here bashing.
"NFL - National Felon League"
"Bunch of criminals!"
"Bunch of thugs in tight pants playing with each other"
"Overpaid losers/thugs/criminals/whatever"
"Anti-America bastards!"
"They disrespect the flag, I will not support!"

I think I covered most here and saved some folks their time. Youre welcome.

The greatest QB in the NFL:

A Aron Rodgers...Lol

My Broncos squeaked out a win against the Seahawks despite Keenum throwing 3 interceptions, and Von Miller was a one man wrecking crew. If Keenum can protect the ball better I think we'll have a decent yr. Time will tell.

I'm a cowboys fan. They played so bad yesterday. If they play the first half of the game like they did the third quarter the boys might have won. I wasn't going to watch this year (I didn't last year) but figured one game would hurt. It did.

I'm a Cowboys fan too. Zeke only had 1 good run besides the TD. Maybe they will get it figured out.....
I hope

Maybe current but not in the last 20 years lol

Back when football was good ol fashion football, Farve, Elway, Manning is/were the greatest

In completely unrelated news, Tom Brady is going to miss the next six games. He needs surgery on his hand. Fortunately it's his non-throwing hand.

He's going to have a sixth finger attached.

You can be as pissy as you want about it, doesn't make it less true.

I think you hit all of my speaking points.

Kid from my high school is the Cowboy's backup QB. From all reports, he's a good guy.

Dak had a terrible game, some of that I blame on the line. I thought this year would be the year but then we lost everyone. I don't think they got in Panthers territory until the 3rd.

Chad Kelly will be the starter by the 10th game. That kid is a stud when healthy.

Rodgers is the best creator I think I've seen. Russell Wilson is up there in that category as well.

But nobody can take away the Goats title and he will be the Best until Tommy Touchdown decides to retire. People can hate the greatest because he wins or they think he "Cheats" blah blah blah. But Sir Thomas Brady is the greatest QB we will ever see play. I'm a huge TB12 fan and a Cowboys die hard.

You just can't throw out the word greatest and name Rodgers, Farve, Elway and Manning without mentioning Brady or Montana.

Don't forget Drew Brees! He has some impressive stats....and a SB ring!

I've been impressed with what he's done and it looks like he's put his colorful past behind him. Elway has been in his ear and it's seemed to have done some good.

No, it's not true that they're all criminals or thugs or whatever.

And they didnt all 'disrespect the flag'

Youre wrong.

THIS. A small % are the kneelers. What about the Villanueva guy on Pittsburgh? He was an Army Ranger. Do we just say FU to guys like that? I have no problem with people boycotting things they don't like or agree with, but at least know the facts. Let me guess, an NFL boycott is mandatory but Facebook is cool? Or movie theaters? I would guess all of us frequent some form of anti American Marxist business at some point. Do what you can and what you want. But don't be all holier than thou. We all have warts.

Theyre all thugs, like that JJ Watt guy who helped raised THIRTY-SEVEN MILLION DOLLARS for Houston flood relief. Yeah, what a thug/criminal...

And there have been charts posted before about arrests of NFL players compared to the rest of society...but that's probably fake news, right?

Exactly...... the vocal minority can't be allowed to represent the group as a whole. Seems to be happening more often than not lately.

You know how we, gun owners, are all like, "Whoa whoa whoa! We are NOT all maniacs that are going to shoot up schools/malls/theaters etc...dont lump us in!"...and then we go lump in a group of people because of a few. Wild, huh?

One simple answer. Media. It plays both sides. Divide and conquer.

We arent the media.
If we are constantly being targeted, which is through the media, and we know it's BS, why would we continue to do the same though?

As you're the only one saying all, you're wrong mate. A significant number of NFL players ARE doing the things listed though, so I choose to eschew their entire endeavour. I prefer not to put money in the pockets of any spoiled millionaire brats and their owners.

What do you consider a 'significant amount'

What do you consider a 'significant amount'

I don't consume much news or sports, but if I'm noticing every month or two some NFL player is in the news for bad reasons, that's a significant amount considering there aren't exactly a ton of these guys. Hell the only reason I know who any of these people are is when they make the news cycle for their various DUIs, assaults and such.

I'm a little confused why you're so keen and invested in defending overpaid guys who throw a ball or play fetch as a feeder mechanism for wall to wall marketing as the pinnacle of their achievement from one grumpy English dude though. It's a circus to sell products, that's it.

And I'm hardly the only one sick of their antics if the tumbling viewing figures are anything to go by.

If someone will write them the big checks then they are not overpaid. They are crucail pieces of multi-billion dollar businesses. You may hate them and think they are d-bags, but they are paid at market rates. Not many people on earth can do what they do so they make big bank for a short time.

True, if the market for ads pays for the show, then they aren't overpaid.

I don't hate them, I'd have to give a damn first. It's more bread and circuses and force feeding us ads for things we don't need to keep us dumb and quiet.

I just don't understand all the time and energy people put into venerating them. It's SeaWorld for people. They do a trick with a ball and get tossed fish.

I agree they shouldn't be idolized, but sports can be a fun, harmless diversion. Weren't you a soccer hooligan in your youth?

Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah

How about the Raiders getting creamed??!!! Makes me happy.....

Nope, just a hooligan. I "supported" Arsenal mostly to stop having the "why don't you follow a team?" conversation. If you've ever seen the show The IT Crowd where they pretend to know about soccer because a website taught the nerds how to talk to "blokes" it was basically that.

And sports can be fun, I agree. The NFL isn't really about sports though, it's about selling cable subscriptions and ad space. The sports is just sort of there in the background behind targeted graphic ad overlay by Pepsi ads and reminders to buy every kind of merchandised tie in crap ever conceived.

I tried to get into football, I did. My ex was a fan. My current live in is a huge Cowboys fan.... But it's almost pure ads with a dusting of guys waffling and damn little actual sports footage. And the majority of that is guys standing around before or after a few seconds of activity.

Sounds like you could use a good dose of hockey!
