Announced on Facebook but in case you didn't get the memo...We will be running our Vintage-only two gun match at the Piedmont Handgunners Association Range in Linwood, NC - October 13th. This will be a unique opportunity to match up 1945 & older rifles against each other...come do it old school!!

More info on the website here, https://www.vintage2gun.com/

If you like the Facebook page also that will keep you in the loop about any updates - https://www.facebook.com/vintage2gun/

Thanks for reading and let myself or 2alpha-down0 know if you have any questions!!

Can't believe we are less than two months out on this!! We will be opening up registration on 9/13 on Practiscore.

Met with the other MD on Monday, starting to get super pumped about this :) One change to the rules this year - the carbine class will be required to put two hits on paper targets to neutralize them (much like 3 Gun, where your 2.23 folks hit it twice and your .30+ only have to hit it once). This will be more fun for the carbine people anyway so they can stretch out the legs on their massive 15-30 round capacity magazines! Ha!

We'd like to welcome Blue Collar Reloading back to our sponsor list for 2018. Can't say enough about them - fantastic customer service, great products, and competitive pricing. They will take care of you! They now have a website as well at www.bluecollarreloading.com

Registration is OPEN!!! We have finalized the course of fire and will be posting that & a round count later this week. I'm super excited!!

Register here - Vintage 2 Gun Match. The fee is $25 for the match, $20 for PHA members and $0 if you volunteer to RO!

So for clarification purposes.
I was reading the rules but wanted to clarify. My sks could not be used for this competitor correct? The event sounds fun but I do not own a m1

Rules say the SKS is good to go
https://www.vintage2gun.com/the-rules
Sec 7.02(c)(iv):

Wiki says the SKS was designed in 1943 and first fielded against the Germans in 1945.

Yeah that's where my confusion is because the sks I have was made in 1954. Great shooter but not of the era. So was just seeking clarification

I don't think date of manufacture is important:
Design must have been adopted and fielded by a military or police force, in or prior to 1945. ... Functionally identical caliber-converted rifles and commercial reproductions/replicas are allowed.

Correct, the SKS is allowed in Carbine.

If anyone wants to shoot something and they’re not sure if it fits the rules, send beseventeen or I a PM.

Keep in mind also that, this year, your handgun must also be a “vintage” design.

If it was, all the guys with H&R and IHC Garands (me among them) would be hosed as well. not to mention anyone showing up with a more recent reproductions. Remember, not only do we have a recent crop of M1 Carbine clones from Auto ordnance, James River etc, but Springfield Armory Inc imported/assembled Garand clones built on receivers from I think three different sources, (pretty sure that Lithgow, Imbel, and one of the Italian companies have all provided Garand receivers to SA inc). and that would be a real dirty move to tell an owner of one of those rifles they couldn't shoot.

Clarification....does that mean no modern "tactical/race gun " style M1911s/BHPs are allowed You know what I mean...beveled magwells etc... The intent of the rules is to have a "similar" gun... i.e. a P1 standing in for a P-38 or a newer Rock Island 1911 for a USGI one...but no race guns.

Otherwise I have a nice M1911 MEU(SOC) I could bring instead of the old stock 1911 :)

As long as it's a single stack 1911 it's fine if it's hotrodded. These are the current rules on pistols;

(b) Handguns
(i) Equipped with notch-and-post sights only.
(ii) Chambered in a centerfire cartridge safe for use on pistol-rated steel targets
(iii) Must have been originally designed in 1945 or older (e.g., new production RIA 1911 single stack in 9mm is fine).
(iv) No more than 8 rounds loaded in the gun or any magazine at start signal

Key terms being "year designed" not "year manufactured". But yes, do ask us if you have questions on that or any other rifle etc.

It's gonna be a great year yall! If you're on the fence about coming...don't be. We had a TON of fun last year and this year should be twice as big. It's a wonderful day of shooting, camaraderie, and seeing some REALLY cool guns you don't get to see every day.

Darn race guns! Just grab a plain 1911 with two bumps and a hump for sights and shoot it...! :D

Getting close, folks!! We have our course of fire posted here - https://www.vintage2gun.com/course-of-fire so give it a look-see. Reminder, this year carbine shooters will need to hit paper targets 2x to neutralize. The round count is approximate as we have a "mad minute" stage...how many rounds can you put on steel at 100 yards in a minute? Let's find out!

Thanks Kelly and Dan for putting this together, and to all the RO's and any others that helped. It was great to get out the old gun and have some fun on a beautiful fall day.

I loved "The Mad Minute" stage.... I have never run my gun that hard, it was a blast! :D

Count me in for next year!

Don, where are you?
Michael smashed us in the mouth. Two trees center punched my workshop/reloading building. I got to spend Saturday clearing what debris I could. I could not leave Kaye, she doesn't know the generator procedure. Our power came on Saturday night at 8......HOORAY!
