OMG it was good.... I think we need to ban golf so we can buy the golf courses to use as rifle ranges...
There is something so spiritual about firing a shot at a 450 yard steel target, seeing it hit & then hearing the hit a few seconds later.
I was using a rental gun as I’ve never dipped my toes into long range shooting before. I was using cheap brass Federal 55gr FMJ’s & a 20” AR with Athlon Neos scope in 4x12-40. So not the fanciest of rifles, but I was making it sing like Johnny Cash.
Now when you get there, the majority of this class is a PowerPoint presentation that gets you familiar with the basics of these long range shots, ballistic calculators, windage, ballistic coefficient, rate of twist, etc.
So do not feel bad if you get there & your head is like “I’m not smart enough for this, I just saw “Quigley Down Under” too many times”, that is only normal, you will get it.
Ryan & Steve are phenomenal teachers and if I was a richer man, I’d be training there daily.
If you are unfamiliar with long range shots, they have a huge number of rentals you can try, with any number of scopes with everything from MOA reticle, to Mildots, all kinds of brands, calibers & powers...
I can’t stress how much joy I got today... If any of his neighbors ever want to move, I may want to get their property to have such awesome neighbors.
