Me build a nice fire pit? The one we purchased from Lowes rusted out and my wife has always wanted one of the nicer rock firepits with gravel around it. Her birthday is coming up so I'm hoping to surprise her with it. It looks easy enough...

Depends on the when and where I might be able to lend a hand. We built one of the block ones from Lowe’s or Home Depot and have used it for everything from s’mores to butchering chickens. With this kind all you do is buy the blocks and stack them with some type of cement glue to hold them together. We had ours up in under a hour but don’t have gravel or anything around it.

In all seriousness, the water hose is right there, too. It's not a great big concern as I dont drink to oblivion or leave it unattended.

I am planning on building a 2nd pit that I can have some grates built for and cook on if needed. I'd like to be able to cook large quantities or a whole hog so my pit will be a little different than most. But one thing I have noticed on my basic rock lined pit is that if you actually dig a pit it tends to fill with water. So maybe some kind of drain system would be good depending on where you are building it and if there is any slope or drainage available nearby.

Fire, nice and close to the wooden deck, wooden shed and house. Mix in a little alcohol.
What could possibly go wrong? :p

Bailey Boat? Is that you?
