Winter...WTH!?

We shall see. This seems a little more severe than the ~1 inch of ice pellets possible for Sunday/Monday that is currently forecast for the Triad area.

The guy stresses it's just one model in many, and he excoriates most traditional models. It could be wildly off; that said, he is right about 95% of the time with winter weather. He was also right about the hurricane and came closest to any predictions on landfall and track.

That's worst case scenario, I doubt it'll be anywhere close to that Euro model

My understanding is the Euro model almost never comes true for us.

This guy looks at all the models but is big on the GFS FV3; he is saying that is far too early to know obviously but most of the models are lining up.

Of course all the models favor perfect conditions and perfect timing so all of these are likely to change several times over.

Did some digging on his site. The December 2018 archive has the blog for this possible event. He discusses the FV3 model and says it will become the "officially" adopted version on Jan 1, 2019.

He also says that something has changed and all the models show the storm moving more south, but it might not stay that way, but as its happened to every one of them, there is obviously some disturbance they are seeing.

For the Triad area of NC, if you aren't following Tim Buckley on FB you should be. He's the most reliable weatherman I've found.

Yeah well I have made an executive decision, and will not come to work. every time bad weather comes I and my ilk show up, work others play the I cannot come in.
then they get a comp/weather day, and i get nuttin in return.

This exact thing happened over Thanksgiving a couple years ago. We were hunting near Blacksburg and got over 9" in three hours. It closed the road we took out there down and had to take the long way back to Copper Hill.

Easy folks..... it's weathermen, their rarely right and even have a hard time getting it wrong!! Only job in the world where they can be wrong 95% of the time and still keep their job. They always look for the worst looking model 'cause that's more dramatic. Where do weathermen go to drama school???

My wed is going to suck. This time of year I usually have 110 stacks of bread and a couple 5-10 stack overloads. Wed I have 129 stacks and a 24 stack and 30 stack overload. Meaning I have to deal with 2 completely full trailers of bread wed night. Did I mention it’s going to suck? It will pay well, and I’ll earn every stinking penny of it.

Eh. Forecast changes from nada to inches of doom everytime I refresh my weather map.

None of them will claim to be right this far out. This guy has been right > 95% of the time in the 2 years I have followed him, which is within statistical confidence intervals. He has been right far and away more than the Triangle weather people.

That's it! You must be a weatherman.

ordering firewood for the first time from my wood man today. I burned wood throughout the last half of November, partially to get the chimney 'primed' for the season, partially for the smoke being a great cover scent for my hunting clothes and backyard treestand.........and because I love the smell of burning hickory, pecan and oak wood.

still a ways out, but Im surprised by how many are saying we'll get 3-5 here in the Triad

Life of a bread vendor, I am not jealous of you at all! As a beer vendor I deal with a lot for weather events but the bread and chip folks sure do work thier butts off.
