There was a lot of learning from the first match we ran in December so here’s a breakdown of the rules:
This is a indoor Back Up Gun match. It is not sanctioned by the USPSA or IDPA and is just a fun match.
There are no minimum caliber requirements to shoot the BUG match and a lot fewer rules and procedures to learn than other popular competitions. Guns must be small enough to fit into a 7″ x 5.25" box with your largest magazine inserted (basically smaller than a Glock 19/23). All guns will be checked when you check in for the match.
There are three divisions:
- Backup Pistol: Semi-automatic pistols
- Backup Revolver: Compact revolvers
- Limited 5: over size guns may be used but they must start with no more than 5 rounds loaded!
Holsters are not required*, but dress so that you could carry your pistol in your pocket or tucked into your waistband, while not shooting a stage, if you don’t have one. You may also need one extra magazine or reloader (you’re free to reload with loose rounds out of your pocket if necessary).
* For safety, BUG stages will start with the handgun safely staged or held at low ready depending on what the stage mandates.
Targets will be USPSA targets and scored respectively.
The Match Fee is $25 in advance and $25 on the night. You will recieve a link for advance payment in your registration confirmation email. SAFETY BRIEF IS AT 6.20PM.
