A Metro-Atlanta dentist was arrested after a police standoff following a domestic violence warrant.

Police found him in a hidden room "not meant to be found" along with 12 rifles, 2 shotguns and 3 handguns and "several rounds of ammo". In the photo a couple of the rifles have cans on them. Now he faces multiple felony charges for being armed during the commission of a felony (resisting the police).

On one hand, if he is beating on women, just beat him in the driveway Ray Liotta style from Goodfellas..

On the other hand, a room with less than 20 guns that's hidden...that describes probably 80% of this forum...

Iā€™ll can never really trust a man that wants to put his fingers in my mouth.

Yep, "several" is hardly enough to fill a standard capacity magazine. If you can't fill WAY more than 1 mag, you don't have nearly enough! :D

They chose that word wisely: "Several"
It's accurate without telling the listener anything useful and without adding bias to the story.
And it leaves a nice blank space for the listener to fill with their own bias.

My theory is that they used the word "round" as with a round of cheese (aka a truckle). But even at 25kg each, several rounds isn't that much ammo in our rarified atmosphere. ;)

Looking at the photo I see 3 possible suppressors that the media hasnā€™t picked up on (or the police havenā€™t mentioned). They might be fake ones for appearance but dentist do make goooood money and we know suppressors are legally available with proper paperwork ... but if those charges are correct (spousal assault ...) he wonā€™t be owning anything any longer.

The media's gun story thesaurus sure is an interesting one. That "cache" of ammo made up of three ammo cans. Or when the cops save the helpless public from an "arsenal" of five Hi-Points and a .22 revolver.

For my own journalistic epitaph, I prefer "doomsday hoard."

Its surprising they didn't resort to hyperbole, especially the ammo description.

I read an article some time ago that I clicked because the headline said that a massive amount of ammo was found....300 rounds.
Even to a newbie like me, 300 rounds is not a "massive" amount! Lol. That's an hour at the range these days!

Iā€™ll bet there is more ammo somewhere ... no way with 10 plus modern sporting rifles he had that little amount of ammo. Heā€™s got it stored in other places besides that room where they found him and whatā€™s in that photo. Iā€™d bet most here donā€™t store everything in one place.

Why does it matter how many guns he has, if he only has ā€œseveral rounds of ammoā€?

Also, even if he has a lot of ammo, why does it matter how many guns he has, he can only shoot one at a time! Maybe two at a time if the are pistols!

I know it sounds worse when they report it in the News! Scares people so they can justify the push for more gun laws!

Can you imagine how insane it would sound, if they did the same kind of reporting with a hit and run drunk driver! " The police, found the perpetrator held up in his garage with 5 other cars, 2 trucks and 5 gallons of gas!"
