Has anyone ever shot this match? Seeing its a Sunday AND I don't have to buy a new gun means I want to try it.
For reference I own a M&p shield

I don't shoot that match regularly so I don't know since I'm 2.5 hours away, but I expect they are because they are are having a large tier two sanctioned match in late march that I'm shooting and working. So it's still going on ?Awesome!! The website didn't show recent matches It's a hour and some change from me so it's not that bad of a drive.
If you shoot it can you let me know if a alien gear holster is legal Or should I buy a different holster

IDPA was 20 years old by this time frame. It, like IPSC from 1976, has started the move away from it's origins also. I fall into the camp that any match where you can test your equipment is a good one. The IDPA of 1996 was far removed from what you see today.I started shooting IDPA in 2016 or 2017 so still remember the early days.
Anthill was started by Basil Watts, Joe Justice, on land owned by John Green's wife. The first match there we had to pull Every vehicle out with a tractor. I shot many thousands of rounds there and ate Way more of the great cooking that was always provided. I won a lot of "iron" from there and always had a great time. I hope all of the originators are still kicking. Last I heard John Green was not doing well. I really miss Basil and Joe, time is flying away.
Just saw this. I meant I still recall my early days of being a noob shooter not the beginnings of IDPA. Early days as in being lead through what division does my gear fit. What's a stage vs a string. Being given advice after every stage because I needed it. That doesn't happen much any more and I'm sure as time goes on I'll forget what it was like.IDPA was 20 years old by this time frame. As far as I know Basil and Joe are still amongst the living. John, not so sure. He was in Bad shape 5 or years ago. I am ashamed to say I haven't been in touch with them for years.Did Joe pass? Joe was a great guy.
CCP ideally loads 8+1, then 8 and 8 for your two reloads if you have the mags for it. Your division would be CCP and class would be unclassified.I'm trying to register And I have a few questions.
I'm assuming I need to register for ccp as I'll be using a shield. But it's my first match and I'm 31. What division and catagory do I choose?
Good point about mag capacity. I think you can carry an additional mag in BUG. *I think*You could shoot in BUG if you wanted but that would limit you to 6 rounds in your mags. In idpa one of their quirky rules is you can only load to your lowest capacity mag, meaning if you have 2 eight round mags and 1 seven round mag you can only use 7 rounds in any of your mags.
That said, the folks there aren’t gonna get in a twist being your first match, they will cut you some slack. Shoot your shield in ccp unclassified and have fun. I’m hoping the weather holds up.
Yes. An extra mag is ok in BUG. You can also have a Barney mag to top off before the start of the string in any division but you can’t use it for anything else.Good point about mag capacity. I think you can carry an additional mag in BUG. *I think*
ThanksBring cash.
I'm good with ccp. i have 4 mags of the 8 rounder for the shield.
I registered on the website it said but I haven't paid as it didn't give me an option. Does anyone know if they take a card at the event? or do I need to bring cash?
That's not the one in Sanford, is it?So old conversation. I have yet to make that IDPA match. I am once again going to attempt this weekends match. Hopefully, it does not get canceled. Its been so long since I first tried to register that I have forgotten how to register for it.
Can anyone point me to the correct website to register for the anthill IDPA registration? I remember its not on the anthill site but I forget what page.
