I want this so bad

I have he same thought, but in .44mag. That brass receiver and octagon barrel are just too pretty.

I have thought about getting a 45-70 lever gun. If i did this would be a great candidate. Not normally my cup of tea, but damn that thing is cool. I would take it to a carbine class at Apex. :)

Triple T guns on armslist has it cheaper...
NC dealer I have gone through with ease.
I've been drooling at this exact rifle for week .

This Marlin 1895 with color case hardened receiver, 26" octagon barrel really trips my trigger... they make this with an 18.5 " barrel for you midget lovers. Personally, I like the feed from the receiver as opposed to feed from the magazine tube... just my preference.

I agree, that is One thing that I do not like about the Henry

that color cased hardened receiiver model is $1800 O.O

There is the same model with a blued receiver for about $750 called the 1895 Cowboy

I may rethink my longing for a sharpes 1874 and go with the Marlin 1895 Cowboy instead. I picked up a sharpes a couple weeks ago, and damn that thing is heavy... the Marlin HAS to be lighter.

I have the Marlin in 45/70 and love it. The only thing about that caliber, the lever needs to have a big loop to keep it from hitting your fingers on recoil. might not have that problem on the Henry.
The caliber is legionary.

Speaking of recoil, how severe is it on the marlin?

doose, I reload for the 45/70 and the first time ever reloading I was using Hornady 350 grn (think that was the weight) at close to max loads. It almost took off my shoulder. The loads were close to Ruger loads. Never do that again. With that said, I bought a Limb Saver that slips on the butt of the gun and cuts the recoil in half. I try to keep loads for the Marlin around or below the 1,800 ft/sec. I am only trying to kill paper. Since I got the Marlin, I also picked up a Ruger 1 and 1873 in 45/70. Lover that caliber. Sorta looking around for a Sharpe's.

If you do get a lever action and shooting anything on the higher side of the ladder, I would invest in the Limb Saver.

Who do you think you are, Sam Haven? (MHI reference).

Shooting it off bags, it generally sucks. But if you stand up and shoot unsupported, so your body can absorb it, it’s really not bad. Not gonna shoot 100 rounds in a day, but can easily shoot 10-20 or more before getting tired.

Remington's 405gr Trapdoor load is a great round & a pleasure to shoot. From my Guide Gun, it feels about like 2 3/4" 12ga bird shot.

Crazy Carl, I love the 405 grn at 1,350 ft/sec in the trap door. Just plain fun to shoot!!!!!!!
And they used to kill buffalo with that load.

Screw quiet. Buy it and go make some noise!

Exactly. Little to no reason for the gobstoppers unless you just like getting the crap kicked outta you.
