Alright, who's watching the 24 hours of le mans this weekend? Who's your picks, who are you hoping to see win?

I like the Toyota team but I think it would be great to see a private team win. GTE pro is looking competitive as always. Hope the Corvette boys can pull a win off.

Prefer the Daytona 24
It seems like the only place to view is MotorTrend TV, I dont know if I have that channel

Pretty sure they have an app to stream it for free as a trial. I like listening to the race on the radio stream throughout the day and watching video clips of the biggest moments later. Daytona is a good one, Le Mans just sticks out to me though.

Would love to see the Corvette team get back into winning some of these! I still say they (FIA) handed that one to Ford in '16 for their anniversary publicity. :p

I'll have to see if I can find that app. But I do have it all set to record on the DVR too!

The C6.R was the reason I got hooked on the race. Such an awesome car. And now this is the last year of the C7.R and that awesome growling V8. One more would be sweet.

Im a sucker for Porsche, but any team that also competes in IMSA Im rooting for

They were talking about weight and fuel bonuses/penalties at the start. I can never tell why exactly they do that. But it sounded like the Corvette team got a 5 kg bonus and the Aston Martins and Ferraris got weight and/or fuel penalties.

Tough hearing everything with a 4 year old and a 2.5 year old. Soooooo many questions all coming rapid fire and non-stop, lol!

How's it going?

Since I dont have the channel I dont have access to the race. I'll try to see a youtube highlights video Monday or Tuesday or so

Corvette, Porsche, and Ferrari all within a couple seconds in GTE Pro. Toyota up by a lap overall. Haven't been able to watch, just keeping up with the Twitter feed and live timing.

1/4 of the race done. Porsche and Ferrari are a several seconds up on Corvette now. #64 Corvette (not the front one) got taken out by a GTE AM driver so they're down a car now.

There are two apps you can follow it on. The 24 Hours of Le Mans app and the Motor Trend app.

I downloaded both and have been using the 24 Hour one. You can supposedly start a 14 day free trial on the MT one and actually watch a lot of the race, but I haven't tried that yet.

Im downloading an app now

As far as the 64/88 incident, several have posted that video on IG, so i saw that, bummer for the Corvette team, that car was really messed up

Which one? I still haven't tried the MT "free trial" yet. Mainly because I have been near TVs most of the day.

Yeah, the announcers made it sound like it was more the vette's fault or, at best, just an unfortunate racing accident. Sure looked like he should have known he was there though...

Oh well, won't be the first time they had to run most of the race with just one car. Hopefully they can pull out a win still!

Well it looks like the Porches will have the GTE Pro this year. Corvette just can't catch up at this point. Toyota is walking away with the LM P1!

It will be very interesting to see if the Hydrogen stuff they keep talking about ends up being a reality in a couple years.

Corvette battled back into the morning and was leading again off and in but then they ran off in the Porsche curves and now they're out of contention. Hate to see it. Looks like it will still be a close one between Ferrari and Porsche.

I wondered what happened! When I went to bed they were winning! How the heck did they run off?! :(

I've heard several complaints about the safety cars, but if I remember right that isn't a new thing just this year.

But congrats to Ferrari on winning a tough class. The announcers made it sound like Corvette wouldn't be competing again next year, which surprised me. I know BMW is done, but have not heard anything about Corvette.

I dont know if the closing pit exit thing is new, but I know the problem of having the groups split by the safety car isn't new.

As for the Corvette team, I believe it's just the end of the C7.R platform. The new C8.R should debut next year and will be radically different. Mid-engine, small displacement, turbocharged v8 and a much more European body style. No more of that awesome sound that's iconic to the Corvettes.

I believe they said "Going in a different direction" , "Company focus is elsewhere" or something like that. So no more endurance factory teams. I think Ford said the same, but they didn't rule out the new "hyper car" class that is supposedly coming next year or the one after that.

I totally forgot about the next vette being a small, mid-engine car. I think probably because I really didn't like that idea, lol. Nothing quite like that V8 roaring down the track. It will be missed!
