We had to rush my dog little man to the emergency room at the animal hospital tonight .we arrived at 1 am and and we arrived home about 6 am he's still there in the equivalent of intensive care.
The wife and I never had kids, so our dogs have always been our babies.
Its either fluid in his lungs, or heart failure, they're running test to determine which.
Please send up a couple for my boy. We just lost one two years ago, and to lose another this soon would be hard to bear, and if it's not to much to ask say one for the wife and I that we find the strength to let him go if that's what's best for him.

I do pray for him, and for you to be able to let go if that's what he needs. I know it's hard on all of you.

So sorry Pard. We lost 2 last year. Our Daisy was 15 and Lucy was 13. We are thankful to still have Mr. Bullitt who is 8. We'll be thinking about you, keep us posted please.

Update, if this post seems a little loopy I'll apologize in advance, been up since 6.30. yesterday morning but still can't sleep.
We received a call.from the vet a few minutes ago
Little man is being kept sedated in a oxygen rich environment, last night we noticed that his tongue was turning purple and he was panting heavily like he was struggling to breathe.
Over the next 6 hours they will begin a iv of a diuretic and slowly reduce the oxygen levels in his environment to see if he can breathe on room levels of oxygen.
So by 6 pm we should know if the news is good or bad.
We're keeping our fingers crossed and praying hard in between intermittent bouts of crying.
Thanks to everyone for your prayers.
The wife and I are praying for a good outcome but felt like I needed to ask for a little extra help, so again thanks

Update#2
Attempts to take little man off oxgen were unsuccessful. He's awake and alert but can only breathe in a oxygen rich environment.
The diuretic had no effect
Tommorow a heart echo sound is scheduled
Please keep us in you prayers

Third and final update ( hopefully)
First and foremost thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers this kept us going when things were at there worst.
Just a got call from the vet.
After discovering little mans issue were lung related and not heart heart related thank to the echo sound preformed Monday, treatment was started with a different medication yesterday. Last night around two, changes in his behavior were noticed he got up ate drank some water rested got back up and ate again. By this morning changes were significant enough that they begin to wean him off the oxygen, test run to check levels in his kidneys and liver show they are back to normal levels,
They hadnt called before now, because we were crushed emotionally the other day when the attempt to take him off oxygen failed and they wanted to be sure.
Doctor say with meds, a diet , a lifestyle change, ( no laying in the sun for a while) heats bad for him right now) his condition can be managed.
Not a clean bill of health but we'll take what we can get.
Can't wait to get my boy back home, the house ain't the same without out him
Again thanks for your thoughts and prayers

@S4f , so happy to hear he's turned around and will be coming home. From now on, this is going to be one spoiled dog. LOL I hope he's able to give you and the Mrs. many more years of love and companionship.

That’s good news. We are dog people too. They ARE part of the Family.
I hope he continues to improve.
All the best.

Being the caretaker for a 17.5 year old miniature Dachshund we have been watching her age, go almost blind, cannot hear, and when she eats she can hardly swallow without her legs curling under her. All we can do give her a good life until old age takes her. The dog chart says she is around 88 years old in human years. She’s been a great part of the family.

You did all you could for him. I’m sorry for your loss.

Sorry to hear that mate. The only condolence that ever worked for me was knowing that all dogs go to the good place.
