Dayton, OH Mass shooting, nine dead

you gonna prevent that felon from getting a CDL license and driving a propane truck? How about working at a restaurant that feeds thousands of people a day? Or maybe he just DGAF about his 'rights', steals a gun out of a unmarked police vehicle, NG Armory (or buys it from someone who steals it) and decides soft targets are still squishy soft? Both of those scenarios have happened in the last several years BTW.

If felons are so much the threat, then lets execute every last one of these felonious law breakers.
Starting with the white collar felons then at the end the drug addicted dealers that support their own opioid habit that started when they were a construction worker getting a prescription from their Dr. Kill em all!

I didn't make myself clear in that statement.

If it came down to surrendering my AR or being a felon, I would surrender it. A felon has no Rights and my AR isn't worth all the other rights I would lose by becoming a felon.

Even that will not work. Anything can be smuggled in or made in a garage. The only true way to stop this is to destroy the free will in the human.
That sounds like some Antifa stuff. :p:D:D:D

A man who walks free is a free man. a 'felon' used to mean alot more than it does now...........where it was a serious offense like rape, murder, kidnapping, treason. You can be a potential felon and not even know it nowadays.

I'm not giving up anything that is NOW legal that someone decrees ILLEGAL ex post facto. Period. Look at the compliance rates in NY, CT, and other places that have illegalized something that is guaranteed and should not to be infringed upon by our founding documents. It's almost like people are saying 'come at me bro'.

At what point would you not surrender any of your firearms? Would you just keep saying Yesssirr each time they ban something? Surely you have a line in the sand somewhere?

No doubt purchased by one or two in store workers to resell at huge profit.

Not with the online outfits like PSA, etc. It is SOP for them to remove in-stock items like mags and certain firearms from their on-line inventory until they gauge whether prices will skyrocket or not. That way, they don't get hammered for immediately raising prices (like Cheaper than Dirt), but also don't immediately sell out at the lower market prices to people who will likely just flip the product. Their employees don't get to just buy the stuff up.

Oh is just a ramble between my accounting and economic classes I am taking. LOL

And you probably have dumb ass Keynesian Professor too huh? If you want to make a point, but fail the class let me know. I can help with that. :D

I think some of y'all are missing the point I have been making. I'm not advocating anybody taking any guns away, period, full stop.

I'm advocating for less restrictions on owning all types of weapons in exchange for nothing more than what we already do for our CCPs. You want an AR, show me your ccp. You want a suppressor, show me your ccp. You want a new production full auto AK, show me your ccp. This would only apply to guns that would otherwise be banned as they did with the AWB.

Granted we would have to do away with LEO sign off and make some other changes, but this is the best analogy I have come up with so far.

It’s a good thing gun licensing and registration has never resulted in any further restrictions, confiscations or exterminations huh?

Given the choice between the .gov banning certain weapons and paying to keep my full rights, I would pay.

You already have to do this with class 3 weapons, so what if they put ARs and AKs on the class 3 list instead of banning them altogether. You already have to pay so you can have permission to carry concealed.
Damn!!!!!! He's right you know? Hmmmmmmm The New Norm. Pre '68 folks are fewer and farther away.

What if the Jury decides that your "self defense" shooting was an unjustified killing?

Nothing now currently prevents the above either. But what it would do is ensure armed robbers and batterers don’t get off with time served or for good behavior. We need to once again start making steps to turn prison into a bad place to be as opposed to a rite of passage for many.

And we are nit picking a hypothetical. If you want me to write out the entire piece of legislation...well, I won’t, because I’m not an attorney.

At this point in time in life, I honestly do not know.

Two preteen boys need a dad, not a martyr.

Now 20 years down the road, may be a different story. Kids are grown and out of the house with families of their own. Yeah, I could see drawing a line in the sand then.

I know, the end of the 2nd is right around the corner with an attitude like that but, I'm being honest about my priorities.

So what is your next step going to be when they say turn in your "assault" weapons or become an instant felon?

Felon = loss of all Rights

I will turn them in. I have a wife and two kids, ARs is not the hill I'm going to die on.

Do you wear your seatbelts when you get in the car? Do you remember when we didn't have to?

Still don’t “have” to. If you get in a vehicle and refuse to buckle up, I guarantee when you put the key into the ignition switch and turn it, it’s gonna crank and when you put in in gear/press the throttle, it’s gonna move.

Yeah...I always wear a seatbelt, because I believe it’s good practice...not because it’s “the law”. If I didn’t want to wear a seat belt, believe me, I wouldn’t wear it.

As far as “turning them in”; screw that...not because it’s an AR, but because of a principle that was enumerated on parchment over two centuries ago. It ain’t “their” right to take, g-dammit! It’s mine. They didn’t grant, bestow or allow it...got it the second I was born.

My wife and my two kids are my reason for living and the three primary reasons why I refuse to relinquish anything...whether it’s self-loading or has a lever...nothing gets turned in.

It’s high-f*ing-time they realized “We” are the governed; not the “ruled”.

I’ll be damned if I’m going to let someone with a f*ing capital letter following their name tell my wife or my kids, “this you shall do/this you shall not do”. F’ that.

It’s not an AR “hill”, but the same damned hill claimed by a handful of folks on an April morning in 1775.

You didn't answer the question.

Terry

I did but it was in reply to concepthomes. Sorry.

Coming for my kids to re educate them, yep there would have a fight on their hands, or one helluva a chase.

I think I see where you might be headed, nazi Germany as an example. The Jews faced some of the same decisions and we see how that turned out.

What’s the saying...if there be troubles let it be in my time so my children may live in peace.

I fear if we, as fathers, shirk our duty to ensuring their freedoms then we will love long and peaceful lives and get to enjoy watching our children enslaved.

Exactly...you hit the nail square on the head.

And if anyone ever feeds you that line of BS about, “Oh..well this is America; that’ll never happen here...citizens being put into camps by .gov”...

Not only “can” it happen here...it HAS happened here.

So you're telling me that you don't have to have a permit of some kind to buy a new pistol. You don't have to get someone's permission to buy an SBR? How about a suppressor?

Not once have I advocated for banning a weapon or confiscating any either. I have only suggested a different way of doing things that we are already doing. And advocating for lifting restrictions so you can buy what you want.

Not going to name names...but I am quite certain there are quite a few members here who have never had a CCW and have been carrying for decades, have a collection to make anyone envious, and have all sorts of toys.

If permits/permission are requirements for having/carrying a weapon, how on earth does the criminal element obtain/carry the ones they have?

I’ll bet some Americans of Japanese descent can educate people on camps in America.

Yeah, but your different way is to hand over anything the gov tells you to.

Nope, I was asked what I would do if they came for my AR.

Not once have I said that anybody should do the same.

Don't confuse what i have proposed, with my response to that hypothetical situation.

With what? You already turned in your guns so you wouldn't be a felon, remember?

Terry

A neat chemical mixture from products in the cabinet, car, propane tanks, you know all the stuff that the terrorists use. Who knows I might even have guns stashed away that nobody knows about.

Again, not once have I said any weapon should be banned or confiscated in anything I have posted. I have stated that there may be a different way of doing things should the government try to pass another AWB.

I was just trying to poke a little fun with what you said about destroying the humans free will.

My response was a poor attempt at humor.

Pretty sure that was cheaper yesterday
Don’t know about that deal, but the individual 30rd PMags went from $7.99 to $8.99 with the same PMag code.

How's that?

You have said “I’d turn them in so I wouldn’t be a felon.” And “why don’t we just make everything legal as long as you have a magical government issued multi-pass.”

And shortly thereafter claimed that should the boogaloo start you actually in fact didn’t turn everything in so you will have stuff stashed away.

Just seems like “I won’t comply” with extra steps.

Tell you what. Try selling that pablum in New York , Chicago or California. I'll wait to see how well it catches on. Then we can talk.

Yep, I tend to do that when we talk hypotheticals.

Have I once suggested that anyone else give up their guns? Have I said that any guns should be banned? No, I have simply said that if there was going to be an AWB, we as gun owners could propose a different solution that isn't much different than what we are doing today and have more access to more guns.

Look, I appreciate your enthusiasm. But what you are saying is similar to “Guys...they are going to sentence us to death. So maybe if we become proactive we can choose the method.” The problem with your “one pass to rule them all” idea is that it is opens the door to tighter requirements that most feel are infringements. And agreement on it by the left would ensure this. Think class 3 level requirements. And it is ridiculous to require that level of scrutiny just so a single mother can buy a gun to protect her kids.(as an example)
