“How do you propose to end mass shootings then?”

The inconvenient truth for leftists is that May Issue permits are an example of currently existing systemic racism/disproportionately impact marginalized peoples. We need to point that out there every single time it comes up.

Are you like....lost or something?

Time for some “common sense” First Amendment regulation. I’m only somewhat kidding. It would be far better for every news outlet to do it of their own volition but either way....

STOP REPORTING THE SHOOTER’S NAME AND PICTURE YOU MORONS!!

This has become almost like a social media of sorts where your “likes” are how much coverage you get and it’s sickening!! It almost provides an incentive for depressed, suicidal individuals who want to be remembered. Do not give them exactly what they want. Report the victims and the heroes who try and stop the shooter. Make their names and pictures the things that pop into an entire nation’s mind not the A-hole who committed the atrocity. Good on the media outfits who have already done this voluntarily. Report on the event itself just deny the shooter the notoriety. I get that this info will ultimately be disseminated and social media/the internet (h/t Al Gore) is a thing I just hate these shootings happen and wanted to voice frustration.

(I fully understand the ramifications of undermining the First and am not arguing in favor of doing so. Opening that door would be just as dire as undermining the Second.)

It is quite simple but no one has the guts to do anything. There will always be violent and deranged, mentally off people. We need to bring back the mental hospitals we started closing in the late 1970s. During the 50,60,70 and even into the 1980 people who were seen as outside the social norms were dealt with. A teacher, parent, law officer, judge, preacher or others would notice and contact the correct authority. These people who commit these mass shootings have all displayed signs of anti-social behavior. Somebody always notices. But now we throw our hands up and say we cannot do anything about it. Its time to start sending these people on the edge, to be evaluated. If they are a harm to themselves or others then off to the hospital they go to be rehabilitated of simply locked up to keep society safe. It's not the guns it is the deranged people who are delusional about life and their place in it. We gotta stop mollycoddling people who OBVIOUSLY have little respect for themselves or anyone else. Fear is a great motivator. If I begin to think the rhetoric from others is real, What I see on TV is real, what I dream is real, that my video game is real, I need to know if I act on these irrational feelings my actions will have repercussions. A month or so in a mental hospital could be an eye-opening experience for many misguided people.

Public hangings of the “shooters” ASAP on site of the mass shooting. Hang them if they are alive. Hang them if they are already dead from gunfire. Leave them hanging on site until the news agencies have it reported.

Agree with him on the first one but n the second all those three examples are of people doing things to themselves not others.

The second one is interesting in that it claims that the elimination of a symptom will solve the root problem. Less heroin will solve the problem only if you define heroin as the problem. It does not solve the problem of drug addiction nor the societal factors that lead to drug addiction. Same with gambling and gun violence.

The most dangerous thing happening there is lumping income inequality as a symptom of a problem that needs to be addressed.

Holy crap. A cash bounty on mass shooters? That's brilliant.

I thought about this some more. And while I still think it's a terrific idea, it would get thwarted by the "due process" whiners and the "judge, jury, & executioner" whiners.

Perfect example of bad analogies and the failure of goal oriented thinking.
Exactly. A better analogy would say make those first three things illegal to solve the problem.

That wouldn't work, just from some of what I have read on this forum alone, there are more than a few people here that would be getting a daily dose of EST.

This is also nearly verbatim of the Red Flag laws being proposed today.

The media currently self censors like this. Have you ever heard of a local suicide in the paper? Non celebrity? Particularly younger kids? You won't. Because they established that "suicide clusters" were a real thing and were inspired by a suicide of someone they know or someone that is local.

The correlation to mass shooters, that the media refuses to address, is that a lot of them list the last mass shooter in their manifesto. El Paso listed New Zealand, NZ listed Sweden, etc. All the way back to the shootings after Columbine. They consider them hero's. There is some self censoring going on, but not enough. And in the age of the internet, not sure if it would work. But it might help. A good man standing stiffness other mens spines applies to bad men too.

I'd like to see the Feds take over prosecution, all death penalty cases. Anyone caught in the act or confessing gets tried within 30 days, auto appeal to SCOTUS, execution within the week if upheld.

And we can't continue to ignore the mental health side of this. We could hit gun violence, homelessness, and drug abuse with some solid MH treatment. I've been preaching it for weeks, we want to act like we should treat people like we used to, but we don't treat them that way anymore.

And to the point, nothing will end them. It's about mitigating damage.

There have always been violent, antisocial people who will harm others, rape, pillage, steal, etc. It used to be that people dealt with them. When the people couldn’t deal with them individually they bound together, mustered, engaged the local sheriff or constable, etc. It used to be that it was rare for govt. to get involved and even then when it was a major crime. The founders put the power in the hands of the People. This notion of pleading to and waiting for some “authority” is a rather modern concept and is a large part of the problem. Govt. justice is a failure. Prison and jails are a failure. The idea of them being some sort of stinking “authority” is an affront.

People need to start taking responsibility and act and stop waiting for some “authority” to do something.

Shame them.

The most powerful thing in life, as a young person, is social acceptance.
They made smoking "uncool"...now very few young folks smoke.
It's not access to the tobacco that made smoking less popular.

That’s what the left has been trying to do with gun owners and people who shoot for sport or hunt.

So let me get this straight. The families that raised them, and in some parts contributed to these issues, are supposed to be the ones that treat them too? I'm big on footing your own bill, but lets be honest, that's part of the issue too. My dealings lead me to believe they can't really do that either.

When my grandmother was a young women she was kidnapped and they attempted to rape her. She basically fought back and escaped somewhere around Morganton after being taken from the Hickory area. She said she went to a house for help and they let her make a phone call. Their son was locked up in the basement because, according to her, he wasn't right. Yeah, try that today. A lot of things sound good, but just are not going to work.

Some families just don't have the skills, funding, or ability to correctly deal with the mental health issues that are going to drive someone to do this.

I think they're all vaping now. I have gone to get gas and start smelling Blueberry Muffins nearby, just to turn the corner and see some fat hipster vaping.

Where are my damn muffins?

I wasn't referring to those that need mental or other help. Most families simply won't have the resources, let alone training, to deal with them. I was think more of the criminal sort and the idea that justice and even enforcing law needs to go back to being a function of the people and not government. People have abdicated their responsibilities to government, which is all too happy to accept the power. We need to undo this.

I like your ideology. But that ship sailed a long time ago. Gov has taken the ability for the citizens to "control, address, handle, reform" "you chose the best word" these uncontrollable/a people.

Are these people really famous or memorable? I couldn't tell you the name of a single one of them...

I agree on the shaming thing. We should start making memes making fun of their manhood and such. Make it a laughing stock thing to do. That would shut it down on some level I guarantee...

Famous, no, infamous yes. Their names have gone from unmemorable to being tied to a horrific historic event. We may not be able to rattle their names off, but some people can. Much in the same way that not everyone can recall the first baseman for the Yankees in 1993. But that doesn't make that athlete any less "famous" in his own right.

Make it where the women don't automatically get the kids in the divorce. They don't get alimony easily either.

Divorce is too one sided. It's too easy for a woman to decide that she wants out because she is bored. What does she have to loose? She is going to get the kids and child support. She going to get all the praise and support for being a "single mom". Then shack up with some other guy that helps keep her up while she blows through the child support on trips for her and the new boyfriend. All while the kids are being left home alone or with grand parents to raise or worse, drugged into compliance with moms wish.

Bring the family unit back together.

Don Mattingly, duh... Hall of famer...

Perhaps the young people who think shooting someone is all fun and games should be shown what a bullet does to the inside of a large mammal. It is very ugly at times and is not just a small hole in the person's skin. A dose of reality might reach someone when he/she sees what their insides may look like after a good guy with a gun shoots them.

Much has been said about violent games and movies affecting people. I do know from numerous experiences that it frequently takes several days for young people to calm down back to "normal" after a violent film was shown on HBO over the weekend. Scarface had some school kids acting much more violently than normal for almost a week after it was shown over a weekend on one of the pay TV channels. I am not saying violent entertainment causes mass murders, but it certainly does affect behavior. Even worse are the drugs that can affect their behavior dramatically.

I would say ^^^^ would just excite them. Much like the continued violence on TV does. Actors love to talk gun control and make another violent blockbuster.

People talk as if "mass shootings" is something new to the American experience, this could be futher from the truth. The ever growing frequency of it is something new. This can be equated to an ever growing population. How do I propose to end mass shootings??? You can't, We can't, it's not possible untill all evil ceases to exist. Look folks, We live in a fallen world. Today there's people in "high places" of power and influence, whom know full well who they serve. The Dayton Ohio shooter knew whom his "master" is. He professed it for all the world to see. Now We have those whom try and make the masses believe..."there is no God", this is so far from the truth. Wheter The People want to believe it or not, it is there for all to see, our country, our Constitution and Bill of Rights, were founded on Christian principals. History doesn't lie. Today We have a criminal element of government, that seeks to remove God from our schools, our courthouses, from our society, and replace Him with somthing that's foreign, and unknown to us. You, and I cannot stop the evil that is coming...but God can, and one day, He will. When He does, every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess, Jesus Christ is Lord. The choice today is very simple, choose that which is Good, or choose evil.

“Not everyone” = “some people”.

Evil will become more prevalent as time edges on. The only way to thwart it is to be mentally and physically prepared.

Society has changed drastically over the last 50 years and will continue to do so at an ever alarming rate and sadly not for the better.

The best we can hope to achieve is to educate our families and the circle of people we have influence over. Take responsibility for the tasks that God has given you, read the road map to life and don’t let these things that are coming take you by surprise.
Man with all his problem solving abilities doesn’t have the answers, just look at all the stupid things that are proposed by our “leaders”. The more they speak the crazier their ideas become.
